I doubt Avaline is still in Kirkwall.
She might be blamed for what happened there.
Not her fault of course.
And she would have questioned by Cassandra just like Varric was.
If she smart she fled with Donnic.

Aveline has no place in DAI.
She's a Kirkwall city guard, not an international peacekeeper.
Small potatoes, yo.
Yep. Aveline may have been a great companion, but just isn't important enough to bring into DA:I.

I for one would Love to see and Travel with Aveline again even with Donnic. She was my personal favorite character in Dragon Age 2.

I love Aveline. Not only is a she a total badass, but she is SO loyal to Hawke. My favorite quote from her is "Threaten my friends? Not letting that one go captain..." I just wanted to hug her. She stands up for what is right, the law, and loyalty. It was absolutely heartbreaking if she says "You are nothing to me anymore" during the Last Straw quest at the end of DA2.
As for her appearing in DA3, you can be pretty sure that if we ever go to Kirkwall we'll see her. Not only is she the captain of the guard, but there is no way for you to kill her (or lose her?) until the very last quest, and even then she leaves, not dies.
