Worry about the Qunari PC's relation to the Qun

They definitely said we're not a Qunari qunari, as in a qunari who is a Qun follower. They also said a whole quest hub is off limits to a qunari PC, so that to me indicates it is a Qunari settlement, and they assume, (either wrongly or correctly), that we the player are Tal Vashoth and attack us on sight.

Damn, I would have loved that.Wulfram wrote...
You could have a Tal-Vashoth who greatly misses the Qun but because of [circumstance] felt they needed to reject his/her role. Maybe they were a farmer then they got zapped by a veil tear and now they're the only people who can save the world from the veil tears, so they must abandon the Qun to save it.
There could be more of an air of wistful regret at leaving rather than distaste.
Though I suppose if the Qunquisitor was the one person who could lead the inquisition and save the world (which is definitely in the Qun's interest, no?), the Qun would equip them as such. But of course, they could miss working on their crops and knowing their work would feed all those around them, as well as hundreds more they could never meet.
Do you have a link for this piece of info? It sounds delicious with lots of nice reactivity =)Elfman wrote...

I'm also 99% sure this whole thing wasn't a dream so if you want to take it at face value, which generally is a good thing, I have a good memory when it comes to this sort of stuff. (Unless that part's a dream)

That would be a nice stance as well, I suppose, and would again fit if BW opt for a more blank-slate approach to oxmen.

I recall the Q&A-thread Elf was talking about, it's mentioned in this post here:

Can't find any neat reference to the definite source of it, though. And of course, that section being 'impossible' can mean any number of things. I imagine Tevinter Imperials being less than hospitable to a grey giant...

Really cool! I'm very hyped to see this in action, whatever it may mean! =)Chashan wrote...

They did it in DAO and in mass effect, so they'll probably give you a background summary in DAI too.

My personal hope is that my qunari will have grown up in the qun and left of their own volition, but may not necessarily be Tal-Vashoth, simply vashoth. I would like my inquisitor to hold on to certain aspects of the qun in which they find wisdom- specifically the belief in "wasting nothing", which will be part of my qunari's approach to closing the veil tears.

My Qunari will be something as simple as a former soldier of the Beresaad who left because he was unable to agree with some of the key fundamental demands of the Qun. He will be regarded as Tal Vashoth by the Qun, but will be loathe to use that word himself because he is not hostile to the teachings of the Qun. Merely disagreeable with enough that he could no longer call himself Qunari.
I don't expect Bioware to provide dialogue to play a character like this, but as I said. Headcanon.

In light of that, I hope Trolldrool's approach to that apparently happening

or something very much similar will be an actual option from the get-go, an oxman/-woman who is not all-out violently opposed to their people's creed.

If we get to play a female Qunari then she would have to be Tal-Vashoth. Sten told the Warden that females could not be warriors. I "think" it was something like they could only be shop keepers, artisans and priestess, but its been a bit since I played a female Warden, so I am not 100% sure on exactly what he said was their role, but I know he was confused on how she could be a warrior and a woman since it was impossible for her to be both. So I would think that confirms that if you play a female Qunari then she has to be Tal-Vashoth or not belonging to anything like the one you meet in DA:2 who warns you of the Tal-Vashoth in Act 1 and later he is in the Hanged Man in Act 3.
A female of the warrior class, probably, but not necissarily. Tallis was a rogue and she didn't fight---she solved problems.

which caused her to go abandon the Qun to do be what the Qun forbade her to be.
Interestingly, it's sexism... But to both sexes. A male Qunari is likewise forbidden to be an artisan and other roles. It's sexist to both sexes, keeps both forbidden from being in a particular role.
