James Vega. I didn't even notice him in the beginning and now i can't imagine me3 without him.

I agree. He really comes into his own by the end, and I love his contrast from Ashley and Kaiden. He has an amazing first impression when escorting Shepard, and when you learn about his ordeal of how he became the captian of his away team, it breaks your heart.

Strictly from Mass Effect 3? Javik, in a heart beat. He's such a troll! But he's great character, and adds a lot of depth to the story. I like the sense of vulnerability he gives to Shepard near the end of his friendship arc.

Overall. I love, and will always love Garrus. Favorite character, hands down. I've never seen that type of loyalty anywhere. He's inspiring. And I like his romance the best.

I like a lot of other characters, too. Tali is definitely second. I also enjoy Kaidan, and will definitely (try) kill him my current me1 playthrough. But it's hard :( Ashley just doesn't do it for me. Also like Miranda, Jack, Grunt, Wrex... they're all second! I can't choose. I just know Garrus is first.

Hm... It's a tough question. I can't really pick just one character. Javik was the first troll that was actually awesome, Garrus was loyal, perhaps to a fault, Zaeed is just kinda that tough guy that has seen it all but still sticks around "for the goddamn hell of it", Tali is a quirky, amazing woman, Reegar is dedicated and has a gung-ho, USMC attitude, and Kaidan is... well, he's Canadian, I guess. Those are all favorites, but it's just about impossible to pick just one.

Javik really saved an awfully weak squad in ME3.
Before ME3 Miranda & my Shep.

Good lord waiting for 24 hours to post is AWFUL. Anyway, I'm going to go out on a limb and say Cortez. I know most people identify with shep (rightfully so as s/he is our avatar into the world), but I loved the fact that there was someone in the game who, in more than a few ways, represented me. Also, I think my personality is most like his, especially his light hearted flirting and banter with Vega (we all know that's what it is)

Hmm.  Brooks is an unusual choice.  Definitely not one that is commonly chosen, but I can see the logic behind it.  Kinda.  Not my cuppa tea, but I get it.

Interesting how opinions can vary so much. I didn't like James really. The whole 'loco' thing got old quite fast and I found him the stereotypical macho with no brains, annoying really.
I can see how he can be a nice guy under all that macho stuff, but I found him to annoying to care for that.

Normandy crew: Traynor. I laughed so hard the first time my Shep (male) tried to seduce her into bed. FAIL! OOPS! But beyond that, just her progression from mild mannered geek to data analyzing badass who saves Normandy with her toothbrush.

Background character: That Asari huntress in the hospital talking to a therapist. Her story was so sad, and it being Joker's sister :(

Of ME3's new characters James Vega really stood out for me. Okay he's the token 'regular guy', but for all that he's a 'regular guy' done really well for once (Jacob I'm looking at you). He had me the moment he rammed straight into Dr Eva's shuttle on Mars.

The other two newcomers I found disappointing. EDI was fairly cliche (robot trying to define and discover independence), and Javick was several annoying fallacies (evolution = selfishness, and, empiricism = totalitarian oppression) rolled into one.

Returning characters were generally handled well. But special shout-outs to Jack and Mordin there.

EDIT: Oh yeah, Traynor. Forgot about Traynor. Think that says it all, actually.

My favourite overall character is Garrus. I know, it's cliche but it can't be helped. My favourite ME3 character would be any of the four main newbies: James, Javik, Cortez or Traynor. If I had to pick one, it would be James. I like how he's endearingly dumb in a genre whose audience tends to value intelligence & charisma above all else.

That would be the one who arguably got the worst squadmate treatment of them all: Morinth. Too many of the squadmates were often lacking in personality(Kaidan/Ashley) or are otherwise a bit too goody
two-shoes to be worth fighting with. Morinth is almost like Dexter, dancing a dangerous line between "good" and "evil". So she regularly kills people by mind-humping them - Nobody's perfect. With Thane as a runner-up, she's still my favorite character.

And then she got name-swapped by a Banshee...

ME3 alone I really adored Traynor, especially in the romance...I loved that "You...how can you even look me in the eye!" in the Citadel DLC, it was just adorable :D And her toothbrush. Can't forget the insainly expensive toothbrush. And her accent.

But over the whole ride, ME1-ME3, it's really all about Garrus and Tali. Their loyalty towards Shepard is...exceptional. But I still have to create a FemShep to romance Garrus. Didn't do that yet.
