In the case of people who habitually avoid hosting, I'd say it's just unfamiliarity. I never host, and so never use projectile weapons; thus I don't know them well enough to use them on the rare occasions I am hosting, especially for a solo.

Same goes for Vanguards. I hope ME4 has better coding for stuff like this.

I think DHKany is still right though, even if you make a more representative comparison the Talon GI should outperform a GPS GI in most cases. If I did a couple of no rocket solos vs. Glacier/Cerberus with the same objectives everytime (easy to do on PC), I'm fairly certain that I would get a better average time with the Talon GI. I also think this is the case for the majority of PC players, but of course I can't speak for console players. Maybe the different controls make it easier to perform well with the GPS than with the Talon. However, the fastest GI console speedrun was done with a Piranha anyway.

I'm not saying that GPS is better than the Talon and I'm not saying that the Talon is better than the GPS. All I'm saying is that it is very situational and thus I find it quite ignorant when someone states that one is inferior to the other.

I got nothing against the thing.

It just lacks headshots and it isn't a grenade launcher so I don't really use it that much.

maybe if you used the talon as much as the GPS on the GI you'll see.

I run with the GPS on my GI, i find it extremely fun to use, it just suits my play style...

I just tried the GPS on my Geth Pyro Trooper as an experiment.
Very nice, dunno why I've never seen anyone using this pairing before.

The stagger and ammo application worked nicely with flamer use.
The ability to see enemies on the other side of walls via hunter mode meant that I was always able to greet a foe hiding in another room with a charged shot to the face.
The geth passives bonus damage doesn't hurt either.

The lolAcolyte would likely be better, but so what?

It's the best use for the GPS I've found so far, so I'll probably stick with it for a while.
I don't imagine I'll ever again attempt a gold solo, not after last time:pinched:, but I reckon this build is solo worthy, provided the map isn't too large and open.

Always liked it. Use it on way too many kits due to stagger, homing and decent weight.

Best use: Talon Merc. Charge up, heavy melee, release both at same time. Both home in. 1 shots all over the place. Big armored boss target? Use armor piercing arrows and watch that yellow bar drop.
