What would make for a better Kai Leng?

P.S. Kai Leng should have had his throat slit for Liselle instead of jabbed in the gut for Thane.

In the Saren fight, you literally could be beating him down and then cutscene happens and all of a sudden with apprently no transition, he's calmly holding you by your throat....
At no time does Kai Leng have a cutscene as egregious as this....
Kai Leng is bad, but to specifically call him out because of cutscene issues while downplaying SAREN?

When you beat Kai Leng, he ends up *winning* instead of *running*. He gets away with the data and the VI you needed.
The first is a bit annoying, but it gets across the idea that Saren is dangerous.
The second is a gratuituous "F*** You!" to the player.

1) Both Thane and the other guy get killed in the Citadel Coup.
2) Liara gets killed as well (no plot armour can save you form Deadpool!).

Not even close IMO.
Kai Leng running off at the least doesn't have you arbitarily picked up by the throat and manhandled as you are by Saren....
THAT is a bigger break to immersion IMO than you wailing on Leng and him running off after he uses the gunship to destroy the floor...

I also love how after his bravado with the "No...now it's fun." line, he runs the hell away as soon as he's faced with having to actually fight his "fun" matchup on the Citadel. He's also dumb as a bag of wet rocks and is just a toady for TIM.
He's an unchallenging idiot, and I was annoyed that the narrative took him seriously; he didn't make me hate Cerberus. He made me hate the lame contrivances that allowed him to survive as long as he did. The worst of which being Shep inexplicably RUNNING TOWARDS THE ELEVATOR when she sees it open and him in it. Man, in that situation, if only Shep carried some swort of device that could deliver a lethal projectile at a human-sized target. If only, huh?

By not making him an incompetent toolbag? He only "wins" at Thessia courtsey of an invincible gunship (which is funny, I destroyed HOW MANY of those in ME2?). He faces you on Cronos with a frigging platoon and he's still a joke. Even on Insanity, clocking in under one or two minutes is absurdly easy.

As a soldier Shepard, why are no grenades thrown in? And how close was Shepard hoping to get to the elevator before he/she did something else?
And I think it would have been fun if Shepard was either a N7 Slayer (Maleshep) or N7 Shadow (Femshep) and that had an effect in not only how the combat was fought but with the cutscenes too.

I dunno, really. In general I guess he could just have been less cartoony, tough talking in his letter when we'd already seen him fail to kill the Council.

Cerberus had discovered Kai Leng a decade ago, liberating him from an Alliance prison camp. The Illusive Man had looked carefully into his past before recruiting him: a marine with N7 special forces training, he had been arrested after killing a krogan in a bar fight on the Citadel while on temporary leave.
The Alliance had come down hard on the former lieutenant, making an example of him. He was stripped of his rank and sentenced to twenty years in military prison. Kai Leng’s long list of documented confrontational and even violent behavior toward aliens had no doubt contributed to the harshness of his sentence. For the Illusive Man, however, his anti-alien leanings were proof of character. That, combined with the fact that he had managed to kill a krogan while armed with nothing more than a standard-issue service blade, had made him a perfect recruit.
In the decade since Cerberus had arranged his escape, Kai Leng had become one of the organization’s top wet-work operatives. But he was more than just a ruthless killer. He understood the need to be discreet; he knew how to plan and implement complex and delicate operations.
Kai Leng from ME3: I'MA SPACE NINJA BALLERINA!!! HEY SHEPARD YOU SUCK!!!! NEXT TIME I WILL KILL YOU LIKE A B*** HAHAH!A!!

I started laughing as I shot him repeatedly in the face whilst Tali was trying to run away but was stuck against the wall by the epileptic assassin.
Come on, that was an epic fight.

This is not a slight on the writer on ME3. It's just that a character like this needs a certain consistency to work in a different environment like ME3. If anything, Leng was best described as a racist human Thane with similar pre ME1 credentials as Shepard. In a way, like TDKR Bane.

Seriously space ninjas need to die and they aren't scary or tactically mind blowing either I mowed down 4 dancing ninjas in MP before I even realized they were carrying swords then I noticed and went, " Crap space ninjas...." the swords make you look dumb, swords vs guns is never a viable option ask the Samurai how well that worked, your suits make you look like you work for a fetish shop, and in the case of Lang he looks like he got lost on his way to the anime convention, and I'm not even going into his child antics or the fact he ruins every last scene he is applied in save for the moment before he gets shep's blade in his stomach. Yeah now that I think about it him dying was the best scene he was in his best moment was falling to the floor.

I think this is being a bit unfair to the phantom enemies in the game. They're easily the hardest of the lot, because they're the most mobile, are the only ones that can either insta-kill if you attempt a melee attack or strip your shields entirely in one swipe (and stun-lock you, allowing another phantom to stick you in the back), have tactical cloak, and can still deal damage from a distance with that gauntlet weapon of theirs. On silver or higher, one shot alone deals a fair amount of damage, and if you're still using the starter weapons in MP, you're not going to mow through them easily at all. The only Cerberus enemies that are stronger are turrets and the Atlas. Not even the dragoons are as bad as the phantoms with those whips of theirs.
