Uh... isn't that Coleson dude dead? I watched Loki impale his HEART in the Avengers! Or is it some retarded time-warp star trek B.S.????

They haven't explained that yet.  Maybe he's a clone, who knows?

Haven't watched the Blacklist yet but am fan of Spader - especially of Boston Legal. I watched Shield and it was okay, it had hints of Buffyesque dialogue and a couple of good cast members but it felt kind of flat.

The lead field agent guy was badly cast and the actual story was boring, it didn't really set up anything for the future bar Coleson's resurrection and the identity of hacker girl.

Even the villains where largely absent and the whole 'world has changed' speeches grated because despite them saying it, not a lot was actually shown to have changed. There was no anti-hero groups like X-men or any real notable consequences from the Avengers. I will watch next week but it needs to define itself better and get a decent big bad to fight against.

Shield was much better, but Blacklist is definately worth keeping an eye on.

I like both well enough to keep watching, but I wouldn't really pick one over the other. I thought S.H.I.E.L.D. was pretty fun, but The Blacklist has more in the way of mystery/intrigue.

Lots of spoilers

The abduction scene in Blacklist was classic Hollywood stupid. I like the characters. Lizzy has depth and some intriguing background and James Spader is great, but the action is over the top. That whole carjacking really just punched my buttons. For one thing, why not give the girl a helicopter ride?

Why did I call it Hollywood stupid? Because the favourite abduction point of kidnappers is in transit. So a four car convoy as is shown in the show would have one of those vehicles ahead of the others as a scout. If the scout sees the road closed, then the other vehicles would avoid that route.

When one side of a limited access road is closed, they close it at a point where cars can switch lanes easily. In this situation, the road would have been closed at the beginning of the bridge and the other side would have been converted into a two lane road. The drivers should have known that and been wary that was not done.

The lead car would never attempt to turn around. Instead it would block both lanes, the rear car would block both lanes and the middle cars would then turn around. The rear car would take lead and the lead car would take rear. That way a bubble is kept around the person being protected.

Not to mention hazmat is a huge deal. In a real hazmat situation there would be a lot more people milling about, especially in the DC area.

Finally, how were the baddies able to predict the route the cars took? Whatever side of the Potomac I start from (as a rescuer) there are plenty of safe places to take the girl to that are on the same side of the river that do not involve getting caught in gridlock (unless it's during rush hour).

My husband made me watch Shield, and I was lost for about the first half of it. (Maybe doing laundry while it was on was a bad idea). It was ok, though. I'm sure we'll keep watching it, despite its goofiness.

I can't watch Blacklist. I just can't shake James Spader's 80s sleazeball persona from my mind. His very speech annoys me. Interesting that he always plays an a-hole of some type. ;-)

I thought more people would be into Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. here.

Sorry, didn't like Agents of SHIELD much. After he injected the truth serum on his "colleague" I decided to fast forward it to the end. Blacklist, on the other hand, was tons better, mostly because of James Spader.

I need to check out The Blacklist pilot still, but I liked the Agents of SHIELD pilot.

Spader's sleezeball rep perfect for the Blacklist.
Didn't see Shield but the show's producers are aware the main character was killed in the movie and will explain it at some point.
Read that online but don't remember where.

But I think Blacklist is pretty sweet.

Liked both; find Sleepy Hollow among others rather lackluster.

Rather surprised that so many wish to tear into JW and the Avengers; guess some simply want to tear down those on top. I do not watch everything he has done, I do enjoy Firefly and his Marvel materials. Also great to see Ron Glass back in another JW show as a science tech.

Didn't watch Blacklist but S.H.I.E.L.D. was good. I liked it a bunch, and I will keep watching. If it doesn't make me bored or mad by episode six, they have got themselves a fan.

Same here, I enjoyed S.H.I.E.L.D. but I have yet to watch Blacklist.
Fitz and Simmons remind me a bit of ME's Ken and Gabby, which is a plus - since I've always liked those two.
Seeing "Book" on the cast was also a positive.

I enjoyed Blacklist more than The Following; less depressing in tone. While both have criminal masterminds, James Spader appears to be less horrific and more mentally superior.

And I am not a JW fanboy; love Firefly, but have skipped Buffy, Angel, Dollhouse, and disliked Alien: Resurrection. That said, both The Avengers and AoS has me smiling often and watching repeated showings, if for no other reason than to hear the witty banter.

Here is hoping that the quality for both remain high.

I liked the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D pilot! Sure, it was kinda stupid at points, but so far it looks like a fun version of stupid that's compatible with my sense of humour for the most part. I'd wish they had a little more variety in the "attractive young agents" team aside from Coulson, but I guess I can get used to them. It was good to see Aunt Robin and Shepherd Book, and J. August Richards did a great job as Mike Peterson imo. I'll likely watch the show no matter what, though it'll be really interesting to see how the first 2-3 non-pilot episodes will do.

Haven't watched The Blacklist, and I'm not sure I will. If after hearing about a few episodes I get the feeling it's really good I might give it a try. Although I probably should watch it just to see Spader in action again, since he's going to be the villain in Avengers 2... ^^

They haven't explained that yet.  Maybe he's a clone, who knows?

They gave an explanation in the first episode.  Coleson said that he was technically dead for 8 seconds before being brought back to life.  And that they made the Avengers believe he was dead to help motivate them.

The Blacklist hasn't had it's official premier in the UK and Ireland yet so can't comment on that although it does look it won't disappoint.

Agents of Shield was interesting. In truth I was expecting more from it. Most of Coleson's one liners were cringe worthy and a lot of the dialogue and humour did not work for me. It felt like a rushed pilot episode that had no budget. I also have concerns about the show's longevity, how are they going to get 5+ years worth of programming out of the hero/villain of the week formula, they need a AIM or a Hydra, something to oppose them, a yin to thier yang. Despite the nit picks I do see potential in the show. A lot of Shield's problems can be solved with time but so far when it comes to the battle of the Marvel/DC comics super hero tv shows 'Arrow' kicks Shields ass.

I figured they are building up to that.
After all the Doctor behind Project Centipede is still out there, and the she obviously has friends.

Another conversation later on also said "He must never know the truth" regarding Coleson, so I'm tempted to subscribe to the clone theory - of which he himself is unaware, wouldn't be a first with Marvel. :P

Agents of SHIELDS was very meh. I can't believe so many people waited for this. Given the popularity, I expected something like the walking dead season 1. I didn't like most of the characters by the way. ( except the female hacker kidnapped ) Especially the man acting like a cowboy. Wanted to slap his face. But I admit, I might be too quick to judge after only one episode.

Heroes at the beginning was more impressive however, with a real atmosphere. In short, I stopped watching before the end.

The blacklist didn't impress me either but the female protagonist is interesting and made me want to know more. So unlike agents of shields, I'll keep watching the next episodes and I'll see.

You expected a Joss Whedon superhero TV series on ABC to be like Walking Dead season 1?
