I personally dont mind people bragging about their solos. Its natural to want to share with people (or someone) a personally important accomplishment/goal. Besides i feel those people have earned their bragging rights and its only fair that they exercise them. :wizard:

I call it Epeen, bragging is not compulsory I have soloed bronze many times but  silver, gold, platinum is seriously tedious  and IMHO not something to brag about

If you want to solo, that's your business. However I don't care for when you come here to brag about it.

My thoughts as well.

We differ on our opinions of pride.

Its all opinions and pov's at the end of the day. I just understand how tedious and hard soloing can be and not too many people can handle it so i give props to those that do. I dont mind bragging so long as it isnt condescending and as long as they have the right to brag and arent just talking out of their a**

Well its your pov. My pov is a bit different. I agree that soloing is tedious but thats why i have to give props to those that go through with it. At one point i thought soloing platinum was impossible. So you could only imagine my reaction when i saw that it can be done. I have to give them props especially when they do it while odds are stacked against them.

I must be missing some kind of context here. Guess I'll have to go wade through the crappy threads to find the delicious troll thread that would've resulted in the creation of this one.

To me it seems that they definitely did not intend for people to solo this game. But the prevalence of people doing it for the challenge (or boredom or whatever) meant that htey added in the lone wolf banner. Whenever people complained to devs about problems in the game which affected their solo attempts, i dont remember the devs replying or taking that into consideration

Two things i find utterly wrong with Mass effect multiplayer despite it being a brilliant game I am totally addicted to.

1. People enjoy soloing. Multiplayer-Solo - Oxymoron.
2. You are an power house power class capable of potent explsions, but you cannot play on Gold and platnum with sheer skill. You need maxed out ultra rare/heavy weapons. An asari adept with claymore? Ewww.. Volus sholdnt even be able to lift it.

Soloing *is* part of the multiplayer.

Teamplay *is* the *main* part of the multiplayer though.

2. I'm really trying to be nice here, but yes you can play Gold+ with sheer skill, whatever that means.

You know quick scoping wasn't supposed to be part of cod, but it is. Similar to how that is a result of the game's engine not having the animations in sync (it is isn't it?) the possibility of soloing is one created by the fact that you can start a game on your own, and this is definitely not hindered by the existence of medigel and ops-packs. But as long as it doesn't give an unfair advantage to anybody and it's ok with the devs/publisher then there's no problem with it. And to answer the main question, yes it is a part of multiplayer, anything within the multiplayer mode is; so it's not just a part of MP because "You might have to solo even when you're in a squad".
FYI: quick scoping is not gonna be possible in ghost since its been built with a new engine.

I sometimes start a game, this is because no one had joined my lobby, non the less ive soloed past wave 6 on silver/gold and sometimes peeps join sometimes they don't, I have noticed a major decline in MP since no more goodies/challenges etc.

1. not saying there is something wrong people enjoy the game whichever way they like. I play solo too. But would i be bothered if there ware no Upcoming Challenges? I dont know. Just saying there is fault in the way it is thought upon. It is a MULTIplayer game.
2. Yes you can. But rarely people rely only on powers. Whereas many could max out Cerberus Harriers and and play as an adept with 10% cooldown. This is not roleplaying IMO.

I just wish those with the skills to solo would play in pugs instead: carry us scrubs to victory! Solo with an audience! It'd be nice to see more high XP /skilled players in teams.

You are disabling a device and your teammate, whom you might know or don't casts a shield-restoring-turret/Biotic sphere/hex shield for your protection. And your faith in humanity is restored. ;)

That is the joy of multiplayer. *sob..sob*

Let me just say this for all the "solo" PUG players: Are your PUGs going down the second the wave starts? If not then you are not solo'ing. Simple as that. While they might go down fast you are not solo'ing.

You can solo an objective in a PUG by being the only one doing it. But that is about as solo as a PUG can get. Simply finishing a wave while your team is down is not solo'ing in my opinion. It means one of 2 things:

1: You let your team die because you left them to die intentionally, in which case you are a poor person to PUG with.

2: Your team struggled against bosses and got spread out even with you helping, in which case not your fault.

If your the first case then you don't belong in PUG's in the first place as you are just a score**** (IE Kook, who sucks at it BTW).

I actually agree with Token in that the solo challenges were put in because of people's affinity for starting a game by themselves and finishing by themselves. Not that they intended for the game to be played in MP by a single person.

Really that defeats the purpose of MP is there is only one person playing it. Name me one game which has MP only using one person. Gears Horde mode is one exception but if you haven't noticed it SUCKS when there is only one person. Beyond that a MP portion of a game does not function with out more than one person...

Can it be done in ME3, absolutely. Do people enjoy it? Sure they do. Is that a problem? Not really.

Just saying that solo'ing really doesn't have a place in MP. Defeats the purpose of having multiple people playing in a MP setting. Put it in a separate mode or whatever and I would have no problem with it at all.

I don't really like soloing because I'm not good enough to do it quickly and I'm impatient
But for people who are really good at the game and really enjoy playing it is a natural progression because after a while playing with 4 people gets too easy even on the higher difficulties.

FTFY

And in pugs it's called clutching and not soloing, though soloing will make you better at clutching.

What are we discussing? I feel like whether any given person on here considers "soloing...a part of multiplayer" or not to be pretty much of zero significance to anything ever.

That's my contribution to the discussion, anyway.

Exactly.

right but that is just the most strident and recent complaint about soloing not being "multiplayer"
quite a few people have expressed that reservation even a few in this thread so I think it is something worth discussing
even if it seems obvious to quite a lot of us
