For me, multiplayer isn't fun without other people. Even the pugs that are still trying to figure out the game provide great entertainment. Team synergy in this game can be incredibly rewarding.
It's nice to be able to say yeah, I have solo'd, that is a badge of honor. But I would wager the soloists wouldn't solo if no one was paying attention. Think about Heldarion's amazing 13:34 gold the other day - he took the time to thank other people for driving him on to do better in his post. I don't think soloists solo this game because it is fun to do it by themselves. I think they do it because people are watching them, and they can say hey, look at my amazing skills.
There is definitely a place for that kind of competition in mp as well.

I think they are saying its good to be able to handle solo pressure for instances when PUGs all die because they want to save medigel or ran out in the open and died around alot of enemies...it may not be exactly soloing but you may some times have to carry
Sometimes you have to leave the dead where they fall. If they died around a whole bunch of enemies such primes, phantoms, etc it would not be smart to run out and revive them. It will start a huge revive party resulting in the failure of the whole thing. Sometimes you have to look for an opening to ninja revive them and sometimes it just doesnt happen in enough time and they end up bleeding out
I understand that multipayer suggests multiple people but i have to agree with OP. In videogames multiplayer just mean that it can be played with multiple people not that it has to be done that way.
That is understandable but again, it is not solo'ing. The act of solo'ing in a MP section of a game is absurd to be honest. To have MP there has to be more than one player. Hence "multi" player. Without more than one player the term multiplayer has no meaning. Thus it is not multiplayer anymore. Amazing isn't it? If you want to play a single player game with out a campaign, fine no problem. But for the love of whatever deity you pray or not pray to, don't call it multiplayer. Call it a challenge mode or arcade mode but it is not multiplayer.
Being able to hold your own all by yourself means you are an exceptional player. I have no problem with that. Being able to finish off a wave on your one is a good thing. Again I have no problem there. Not suffering a revive chain is also not a problem for me. There are endless situations where crap can happen and you have to finish a wave all on your own. I get that. But again your not playing solo. That wave was in part finished by a team, doesn't matter that you finish it by yourself.
What I do have a problem with is players who think they do everything on their own in a PUG and do not support the team effort what so ever, IE the score****s. People who act like it is a "solo" (I really ****ing hate that term for MP) while in a PUG are a pain in the ass. People like that ****** me off to be honest.
That is where #1 on my list came from. Intentionally leaving your team to die just so you can finish off waves all on your own. You don't see a problem with this?

I have videos of me carrying Gold with my PS3 manifest going back to a few weeks after I created it.
And have you met krjn?
She carried me through Plat on Xbox less than 2 weeks after starting her account.
When DragonRacer and I did "noob army," we were not being carried by the PuGs, it was the other way around.
When AizenSosuke made the jump to Xbox, he was doing Platinum Speedruns within weeks.
Less than a month after he jumped to Xbox, he invited me to do some Jade speedruns, and he was already vastly outperforming me, with a manifest that barely had level 2 equipment.
I could cite many more examples of people dominating Gold and Plat with new manifests.

I think that QA gets it - or at least I agree.
Lone Wolf was like the first banner I did. Back in the day it was hard to be all geared out - few people had maxed manifests. We had Eric Fagnan doing his 'balance changes' every week - so you could count on the guns you wanted to use being progessively more worthless. Add that in with the RNG troll, and you had to struggle to get that banner.
Eric and his team actually buffed things more than nerfed them.
To my recollection he nerfed the good ones, and buffed the junk (for the most part).
Him nerfing and smurfing was somewhat painful, but most of my pain was caused by the RNG troll. It seemed to me that EVERY time I got a new beast gun and was getting used to it, Eric was on it like white on rice. Had it been nerfed before I got it I would not have cared - but learning a new gun, getting used to it on a kit, and then having the kit AND the gun nerfed was a bit obnoxious.
You can blame his decisions on playerbase statistics. I have no insider perspective but I can pretty much assume that things that were nerfed/buffed were determined based on what players used/played the most.
As I understand it, this is true. It seems pretty socialist to me to change guns simply because they are popular. I went through all of that work to earn the top stuff, and then the top stuff gets nerfed simply because I use it..... Why earn the top stuff?
Its bad enough I had to deal with the guns being made purposedly overpowered so that we rushed to get it. Some people even spent real cash on creds just to get a gun that was supposedly decent. We got trolled by RNG, then the Devs with the auto-nerf. Oh well, thats business, I guess. Filthy Volus. (Joking)
I should not complain though. The MP is the best part of the game by far. I played SP once, was thoroughly insulted, and did the MP just to get my galactical readiness up. I ended up loving MP FAR more than the SP. I actually like the status of the game now - and it does feel somewhat balanced. Some classes I simply suck at, but that does not necessarily make it a balance issue.

Ok i agreed with you on the solo part i said its called carrying in a situation where all of the PUGs died and you have to finish the wave alone. As far as solo being associated with Multiplayer you'd have to get mad at Bioware for that...since they didnt people just naturally associate it

True... including the enemies!!! Ya know... health, shields, armor, shields regenerated, shield gating, recharge times, enemy stomping behavior, pryo's ungrabbable, atlas speed + dot effects, geth hunter speed and rof, additional anti camping units, geth prime drone stunlocking, plus alot more enemy buffs I'm sure I didn't mention.
Just sayin
Are you suggesting that buffing the enemies made the game more difficult? I seem to recall that BSN was the reason for the Geth buff, by the way, as a majority of hte members complained that Geth were "a joke."
Yes and no.
For the new player, yeah. No lie I would HATE to be a brand new ME3 MP player today. They just don't know any better because they havn't seen the game progression (plus we got to unlock in stages as DLC was released, the new player is just simply overwhelmed with all the possible unlocks right from the gate). Buffs were all around sure.... Enemies included and that is important to remember. Nerfs were given to guns, nerfs were not given to enemies -- they were only buffed (spawn #'s on waves were changed/capped ie: dragoons where they could have unlimited spawns -- I personally do not consider a nerf, although worth mentioning because some may). To a new player relying on mostly weapon play, higher shields/armor/health/shield gates with lower DPS weapons is certainly harder than the same veriants when we first played on enemies with alot lower health, alot less stomping your out, no bombers, goon hit squads, and prime stunlocking drone. I remember a time when my Krogan soldier could actually use an avenger in gold... my asari killed things in gold with a vindicator pretty good... My Turian Soldier with the super RoF Falcon pumped up further with marksman was all you ever needed to lol at everything. Yeah, not thats really the case now.
Then no... because things such as biotic combo's scale so you really don't need a gun per say. A brand spanking new player can take a human adept into plat with a predator and whoop some hiney. Anyone who has played for any period of time has at least a few good dmg output gun/kit. And power creep on character kits released makes up for it all with 1 lucky unlock like a flamer kit or a juggy. Plus gear bonus.
Then super no... cuz bio apparently doesn't care so mod files allow 1 game could allow a 100m credit payout, 1 hit kill avengers, missile glitches for credits... then of course for the ligit farmer riobox to replace fbwgg farm.

Agreed. I played a grand total of 3 gold games on my second account and was still able to comfortably carry the randoms in the team. The original human adept and engineer in particular can do very well regardless of manifest.

I totally admire skills and patience of Platinum solo players. And no doubt it is a necessary step once you are skilled enough that you extract gold with avenger and no consumables.
But things can be absurd yet entertaining.
Bioware could have just create single player campaign with shift key not pausing the game.
Soloing is not multiplayer. Neither it is on fringes. Look at this discussion forum.
