On my current playthrough none of the high level dragons fought me, including Fleming, the mountaintop dragon, and the Archdemon. They just sat there while I killed them (of course, Archdemon flew around a little). On my first playthrough they all fought bravely, as best I recall. I may have installed patch 1.02 between games, but I can't think of anything else I did to change this. Everything else in game fought normally. I'm on normal setting. Any ideas why?
Why aren't the dragons fighting me?

They know you're too epic to kill.

By sat there, do you mean they literally sit there while you wailed on them?

Yes. None of the 3 unleashed even one flame.

I like this answer. They just gave up, you should be happy!

Yah, but....
I just reloaded my prior game, to the auto-save fighting the Archdemon and again, it didn't fight back at all. Everything else was fighting, just not the Archdemon. So this is some sort of setting issue, but after changing a number of things I can't nail it down. Anticlimactic, to say the least.

Hmmm, I'd say somewhere you found a Feeblemind spell.
You try a different character?

Yeah I guess that is pretty anticlimactic. Don't know what to tell you. Maybe you can try.. oh wait you're probably on the PC huh? I was gonna tell you to clear your cache. Nevermind.

You tried taunting?

The same happened to me also on my second playthrough (hard) - no idea why. However between the games I installed the 1.02 patch too... so could the fail be there?

Yes, this is on a PC, and I haven't tried taunting but my gut tells me that won't help (I will try). I am thinking of reinstalling or just starting a new game with new player to retest (which, of course, is all good but hardly a quick test). I am slightly concerned if reinstalling then applying the patch will affect my DLC's - I hope I don't have to download and reinstall all that too...
DALEcz - I am glad, in a not-glad sort of way, to learn that this happened to someone else too. If I find anything changes I'll repost.

I tried on both my characters, same result. Since both completed the game, it's easy to reload at the Archdemon and compare, and in both games the Archdemon doesn't fight back (but it did originally with my 1st character, before the patches). I'll eventually start a new character and see what happens, but that's hardly a quick test.

Applying the patch shouldn't affect your DLC - however, what happened to the Dragons - no clue. Do you have any mod or toolset installed that might affect it?
