 OK long story short - bragging rights vs my pal whom achieved his lone wolf banner by Geth Juggernaut twice on gold giant. Now I said to him ok (not to be outdone) I'll platinum solo once with the Volus.

Me and my big mouth getting me in trouble again - Sheesh anyone have any advice strats and tips. I did watch the video on the volus engineer plat solo @ giant using his recon mine/invasive scan camping spawn killing cerebus et al with proxy/reegar combo. Been trying to practice that but I think its beyond my skill set atm.

I'm hoping someone might be able to suggest an easier map/enemy to do it on - remember has to be a volus platinum solo.

I suggest keeping your big mouth shut next time. This strategy may or may not work on platinum but it was pretty easy considering this was my second full game ever with the volus engineer. I would take a crutchbine instead of the CSMG on platinum, also you will need to worry more about flanking.

If you really were want one-up him, you'd do it with the same kit. Imo that is.

Where is Ffandrade when you need him? OP, you should ask him about some tips or strategy. He is the real Volus Master. I watched some of his hardcore Platinum solo's that he did with different Volus kits (versus Geth on Condor or versus Collectors on Condor for example) - this guy is really amazing and the best Volus player around on this forum for sure! And he's a very nice guy too, so he definitely would like to help you out on this matter. I wish you all the best for your solo.

I did the thunderdome with my Volus Adept stasis / Crusader build with power efficiency, warp IV, geth scanner, and shotgun amp. At first, it was rough as hell... once I came up with a decent strategy, it became fairly simple.

I chose to focus in on the abominations for wave 1 and 2. (Abominations are worth 40 points each. Killing 3 of them is equivalent to killing a Praetorian in terms of wave budget.

Wave 3, do whatever.

Wave 4, I chose to focus on... well... missiles. 2 banshee's, 2 marauders, 2 collector captains, and 2 scions is NOT my idea of fun. Handle this wave however you can... I spent 2 missiles and got 2 kill streaks.

Wave 5, focus on Phantoms. stasis + 2 shots (Crusader X) = dead phantom... don't bother aiming for the head, not needed.

Wave 6, do whatever.

Wave 7, I chose abominations and bombers. Don't bother using stasis on the bombers as you're not gonna make them stop. Use orbs if needed.

Wave 8, more missiles. Screw dealing with 2 primes.

Wave 9, back to phantoms and abominations.

Wave 10, do whatever.

Extraction: Run like a boss!

By using this method, you'll get quick kills with high payoffs (in regards to wave budget). Abominations, phantoms, and bombers move quickly... you can stay at one side of the map while they move in fast. Stasis / kill these guys until other enemies close in. When they do, cloak and run to another corner of the map. Rinse and repeat.

I wouldn't recommend trying it in the dome unless you're crazy. Giant, Glacier, Jade, White, Reactor, Goddess, and London are all decent choices. You can spawn nuke when needed fairly easily assuming you're familiar with the map layouts. Hope you don't get 4 devices and don't be ashamed to do a Hack / GTFO glitch if you can!

Volus + Cyclonic IV + Reegar is a very strong combination, but requires practice.
There are several possible combinations. There is no easy Platinum solo. There is less difficult Platinum solo.
Firebase Giant and White are the best maps for solo.
I recorded two videos with build and strategy (only wave 1). I hope it is useful.
1º option Firebase Giant  or White – Volus Engineer + (Reegar and Acolyte) + incendiary IV + Recon Mine (hank 6 = invasive scan) + Proximity mine (hank 5 = slow)



If you find it difficult, I can mount other strategies.
