Fully upgrading the Dual-Wielding tree allowed you to wield two full-length weapons just fine.Phoenix_Fyre wrote...

Dual wielding is over-ratted, I'd rather see a single sword combat tree in the game that didn't rely on massive swords and longaxes. Shieldless sword fighting.
Bastar sword fighting. One handed for quick strikes, two handed for heavier ones. (and yes, the type of swords that can be wielded with one or two hands are called bastards)
Funny you should say that. Yesterday on the Military History channel, they had a program on bladed weapons, from the first bronze swords to tempered steal. The European Longsword, could also be used one or two handed. It's handle was long enough for two handed slashing attacks, and balanced enough to wield one handed with a shield. Then of course we have the Katana, another one or two handed weapon. I do like the idea of one handed quick draw slashes. But it would obviously do less damage then slashing with two hands.

I want my dual wield warrior back, BioWare!!! Enough with stupid restriction!
I agree!
Spartacus was a warrior from one of the tribes that roamed eastern Europe during the first century B.C. He served with the Roman army before being arrested....

Thracians shunned armor and greaves and fought as light as possible,
favoring mobility above all other traits and had excellent horsemen.
Thracians are fierce warriors but highly undisciplined, wild and uncontrollable which makes them difficult, yet rare, slaves in the Roman Republic.

There should be a penalty to defense from projectiles though. Shields are great at stopping arrows. Swords not so much. Then again the dual wielder could probably just dodge. So there goes that lol. There shouldn't be a defense to melee combat though. Two swords can repel and counter just as well as if not better than sword and shield.
Dual wielding should require strength and dexterity to master.
Two handed is strength.
Sword and shield is strength and also a little dexterity.

Yep, I've had my share of them in NWN and KOTOR as well.
I love the whole fast, flashing blades fighting style a lot more than I do two-handed styles.
It's always dual wielding swordsman or a classic "knight" with long sword and shield for me when I play warriors.
Id like to see a them do away with any restriction such as not being bale to have two weapon equipped at onece like bow and saggers or even bow and sword. Figure out a way to make it balanced. I like a agile swordsman who knows how to weild a bow as well. Like anyone growing up in a medieval world the first weapon they probably learn to use is a bow or a longsword, two handed grip. Restrict shields from this class and call t swordsman. That should balance it out a bit. Idk maybe not. I just want to have a few more options in combat im tired of the same old sword and shield and greatsword. Although greatswords are cool the animaions are kinda weak and I hate the new mighty blow animation and love the parry, but it would be sweet to have to pull up the parry at the right moment or something.
Longsword in two hands, while wielding a bow and being able to switch between the two mid attle on the fly. Swordsman or Strider id call it

Honestly id jut like an a RPG where I could basically do all sorts of things as far as movements and abilities like clibing jumping attacking, dark souls mixed with dragon ge mixed with ac not literally but a game that doesn't remind you that your playinh an RPG when the combat and environment trecking is limited with no real stealth, cimbing up things realistically atleast. etc. The art style and the story and the universe are what make and keep it DRAGON AGE cuz the combat and other stuff (o mount combat or ledge grabing, cambouring, no two handing longswords or instead of such a basic system of equipment of weapons by class how bout going to weight and but doing it properly so your not a god at level 30 with abilities in magic nd melee that rock the world. Or if you choose a melee class you're cut off from magic cuz that's how it works in Dragon Age. You have to be born a mage and if you born (select warrior, swordsman, strider or rogue - all new melee classes.) a warior then no magic just magic defence.
Also Staves should have some sweet melee options for when you have no choice but to fight off an enemy at close range as a mage and please for the love of god let the mages strafe while slinging spells, just slow down attack rate or damage output.
Also Bows are Auxilliary weapons and aren't relied on completely or absolutely in a battle unless you are forced to. Aragorn was sort of Roguish as a ranger/strider and used a sword favored the sword but sil like evry other fighter in LOTR he new how to weild a bow.

I would only except this if it included a sizable defense penalty, nothing other than short swords and axes, entirely different animations from rogue and no sharing of abilities with rogues.

Well to me it wasn't really a "class" in DAO but yeah I do agree with 90% here that having a long sword and a dagger was the sh** because with block and parry or whatever that move is you can deal a heck alot more damage than the rouge version. Also I liked some of the moves like the basic triple hit (sword, dagger, sword) which dealt good damage.

I don't really care one way or another
