The problem being that they think they need to limit themselves to Happy Endings and not accept that they plainly need to do Good endings like everyone else so players can accept them. Them saying "bitter sweet" is bad is what they take away from it worries me. No, it's not, you just have to do the ending right! If you do it right you can literally get away with murdering the protagonist in the most abhorrent way. The problem was craftsmanship, not content. You can write extremely standard stories and they would still differ a lot in audience impact whether they are written well or not.

That admitedly none would ever admit to.

 Goddamn deadlines.. 


Deadlines are essential for any business to function. Some gamers don't think such things should exist, and people should take as long as they want to finish something. It's no different from the boss saying "I need that report done on Friday". Most people here would take till next week to finish it.

Second, think of those cut dialogue as deleted scenes in a movie. I've seen lots of deleted scenes from movies or TV shows. Those dialogue lines might have been recorded early in the game's development, so since things change a lot, then certain things get chopped (see deleted scene in the beginning of the game. The beam run also had a deleted scene).
