How exactly could they take out nomadic elves, that are all over Fereldan?Arttis wrote...
aww come on
the chantry could take them out if they really put in the resources
but i think they are happy with them staying away hiding in the forest
Elven mages are City or Dalish?

Aren't we a litle bit to harsh?EmperorOfTheBlack wrote...
Face it. Dalish are NOT mages in DA:O. PERIOD. In the story canon they are but NOT Circle Mages. They basically kill any human to enter their territory with a few exceptions, i.e. that scene in The Stolen Throne and trading partners. They would most certainly kill any of the Chantry before the Chantry saw the Elves.
EDIT: Sorry if that came off kinda harsh
The point is, in current mage origing you are one of thouse mages that was picked up by the circle at a young age, and you have no origins beond the cirkle - one you are a circle mage you case to be anything else, not your race, gender of DNA matters, the policy of circle is that you are a mage first.
Yes teoreticaly abounch of wilagers and Tampliers could have destroyed a Dalish tribe but culdn't bring themselves to kill and infant and game him or her to the circle, but that woun't be recorded anywhere, and the child will never know that story, and no one will be able to recognise that infant in a grown up mage. And since without the cultural bacground dalish and city elves are the same, the mage him self will probably belive that he is just another one of magically gifted children picked up in the city. No reason for him to belive otherways.

"Hey, lets just go all around the world (the one populated with dangerous creatures and people from rival nations) burning all the forests down to kill the Dalish elves. Why? Because... well, because. What? We should be focusing our attention on the Blight? Nah."

Gah. Arguing? Seriously? We all know that the Dalish would snipe the mages from a vast distance with their longbows anyways.
And I am pretty sure that our origin will show up in the game outside of hte origin stage. I bet we'll see the City Elf's family or childhood friend or someone who knew their family

I'm not sure if she's why I love druids too, but it's VERY possible. She's still one of my favorite RPG characters of all time, flaws and all. Hers is still my favorite BG2 romance as well. Hope you don't mind, but I'm sending you a Friend invite now. Jaheria fans must stick together!Servant of Nature wrote...
Jaheira was my idol growing up. Serious. She's why I love druids.
I'll stop derailing the topic now.

they had to come from somewhere
unless your parents were mages and came from dalish and city
then had you while they were with the circle
then they wouldnt really be dalish or city

...mages are assumed to be city. Sure the what ifs and ands and maybes are all there, but the devs have said that generally mages are assumed to be city elves.

My female elf just told a member of her party that she loves(d) her father. Which means that she was probably raised by him in the forest and somehow or another she ended up in the circle.
