Enough with the pre-order exclusives. You want to release a collector's edition? Fine. You want to release a complete edition? Okay. You want to charge different prices for each? Sounds good to me. But let's try and put an end to the "you get this if you buy from Amazon, but that if you buy from GameStop and then that other thing if you buy from Whatever" crap. It's starting to seed into other media as well, such as DVDs, and does the consumer no good. Here's an excellent video from TB on the matter:

Should you preorder videogames?

@billy the squid well why should the company reward you for not having faith in their company to make a great product?

and for the record I will be pre-ording/buying the game blind

Well more fool you, trust has to be earned, nothing they have done so far has earned a modicum of trust. And faith is stupid.

I will order a simple version. The last two Bioware games I preordered ended up... being DA2 and ME3. Call me superstitious but I won't risk it X3

Though if they add the 10th companion I may preoder the exclusive, but only if it's really worth it

I've never really cared about day-one dlc or preorder bonuses one way or the other. I don't mind them. I usually preorder games I look forward to, whether or not I get a bonus for it. A bonus ... is just a bonus, to me. Nice to have, certainly won't say no to it.

I really liked the ME3 collector's edition with all the real, physical stuff you got. I'd love a Dragon Age fabric patch, I really like sewing those to stuff ^^

For those who want the exclusives, sure go ahead. But this is encouraging the give-them-an-inch-and-they-take-a-mile. They've already taken and are trying to take much more with each encouragement. ME 3 and Rome 2 are excellent examples. It's getting worst, imo.

I'll just settle for the primary game. No pre-orders, CE, SE, whatever for me and I'll only buy after player reviews, especially AJ's.

If there is pre-order or retailer-exclusive DLC, it should also be on the marketplace day one as paid DLC.

People who pre-order the game or buy from Retailer X get a little treat free of charge. People who don't wish to purchase from a particular retailer for any reason or has to wait even as little as a few days after launch to make the purchase can then buy the DLC if they want it for a small fee.

I don't like the concept but I accept it and normally purchase the CE editions to get it. It's gone beyond giving an extra ring or suit of armour and now includes companions and quests and such.

I like the little extras that are given with pre-orders. I agree and don't really like that you get a companion or such as a day one dlc but I do like the physical extras. I got a key chain that is the wolf's head when I pre-ordered the Witcher 2. (who knew that it could double as a weapon if need be since that thing is quite heavy and spikey for a key chain.) Those are the kinds of things that I like with pre-orders.
