Could be wrong, but it seems like you're simply projecting yourself into each character.
and that is wrong why exactly?
(IMHO it is not, because that's how i play, i insert myself into the game (personality wise - as i don't tend to play humans in RPGs...exception being Dragon Age, because i hate being either a "primitive" scoundrel from the woods (sorry, dalish lovers, but the dalish should either give up or try to rebuild not just passively hide in the forests) or a second class citizen in human lands to be looked down upon by everybody (note: i don't even consider playing a dwarf, because i almost always play a mage)...
as for how i do choices in the game - well, i decide like real me would (say: if there is slavery, i will kill the slaver, as i hate nothing more then slavery (with the exception of say enslaving murderers, rapists etc. or having them do forced labour!)) and that's that (i only know some choices from DA:O from watching youtube-vids, because i just can't make them in the game (like leaving Lothering to die)...the exception being choices that one really can argue about, because they are grey (Anvil of the Void, Avernus...) - others like say killing Connor or sacrificing Isolde in DA:O i just can't do (and i hate that woman...for what she did to Alistair, for what she does to Teagan and for her horrible accent (and her not being able to controll a Teenager!))
greetings LAX
ps: so my character will be ME - at least a mage-version of me in Thedas and he will probably be a goody-two-shoes (with a vicious-streak a mile long, if he is betrayed)
