Is there a quicker way to level up in ME2?  It appears that they have made it far more difficult to do so.

What do you mean 'quicker'?

You no longer get XP for individual kills, rather you get a fixed amount after each quest. Still, you will hit the level cap (30) before the end of the game even without doing all side quests. Note that you get to keep your levels when importing your ME2 character into ME3 (which has a level cap of 60).

Thanks Caradoc. Just realized that one can get at least 40 points doing the side quests. So, I am off to see the Wizard.....

I don't think that is true if this is your first time playing the game. After the first time completing the game you get the "long service achievement" which grants and 25% boost to experience gains for every subsequent playthrough. Also, this depends on your starting level. If you start with a new char in ME2 you start at level 1. If you have an import, then a char with < level 50 starts at level 2, a level 50-59 char starts at level 3, and level 60 char starts at level 5.

Each recruitment mission yeilds 1000 base points (1250 with long service achievement). So that is 7000 points for your recruitment, or 7 levels. Not sure what the loyalty missions yeild. Less that 900. I think the major story missions yeild 1000 points (1250 with long service achievement). So 3 more levels there (Horizon, Collector Ship, Reaper IFF) Also, you need to take into account which DLC the player has. Anyway, it is more difficult to get up there if you don't have an import and this is your first time through.

The OP does have an import, though.

In any case, the XP from quests is fixed, so the only way to level up quicker is to do more quests.

You guys are amazing!!!!! Always there to help. Again, much appreciated. Yes, this is my first time playing and I did indeed import my CAG over to ME2. I found on the web a list of the various quests, so now I have a jumping off point. Missed a couple though on Omega (The Professor: Missing Assistant and Packages for Ish.
