This looks like one of those "play it in a year when it's free on PS Plus" games for me.

Interesting. Well, I'm gonna wait till Yatzee gives his opinion.

Would definitely be interesting to hear his opinion in this case.

Well, I've seen enough. Time to put the last hopes for the franchise to bed and move on. Now I'm glad that Stephen Russell wasn't brought into this mess.

I'll say this, at least stealth games are on the radar, so we might see better ones to come. Even Dishonored's developers said they were surprised at how popular the stealth options were for their game. With Thief tanking so hard and Bioshock on its way out, it's hard to be optimistic, but that gives me some hope for the kind of game I like to play to still be possible.

When was BioShock a stealth game?

It's not. I mean games that prioritize first person immersion, player freedom and environmental stortyelling.

Well stealth in Dishonored was very accessible which is probably why it was popular. More free flowing and less trial and error.

Spirosz plays it as a stealth game I'm pretty sure. Using the invisibility tonic to lie in wait and then conk the dude with the wrench.

I think they were just surprised that so many players were determined to ghost the game. It's obvious in the development between the main game and the DLCs, where Daud got a few more toys to play with in stealth mode, and they made the animals more vigilant and AI paths more varied, they were listening to criticism. Still not as tense as other games but it's telling that even devs who were fans of stealth had to be shown that the audience wants something other than corridor pewpew.

I thought I should share this video here since it was TB's WTF vid on Thief that prompted it:

So as I gather, the bad things about the game is the linearity and small scope of missions and stupid AI. So it's otherwise another Thief Deadly Shadows minus Stephen Russell? Seems like I might pick it up later on then. Deadly Shadows was okay IMO. I'm still ******* they got rid of Stephen though especially since I head that the cut scenes don't even feature Garrett doing much (so the motion crap nonsense and how a younger person was needed for it was bull but we knew that all along).

I haven't played it, but have watched enough of it on Twitch to know that It's something I'm going to keep an eye on for when it gets dirt cheap on Steam. It doesn't look bad, it just seems to be missing its soul.

From what I've seen of it, it looks half decent. Probably not as good as Thief 2 with its massive levels, but still a fairly solid game.

One thing noted in TB's original WTF is video for the game is the options menu. The amount to which they let you customize your gameplay and difficulty level is bordering on insanity which seems like it will help to ease some of the problems that people have been talking about with the game.

Not sure how the new voice actor did. I don't get why they didn't use Russell, but I'm also not quite as attached to him as a lot of people appear to be.

Maybe I'll try out that custom difficulty thing, right now the guards are blind as ****.

What is it with Eidos bringing back franchises in a big way just to simplify the hell out of them?

I keep hearing mixed opinions about this game, is it really that bad ? been thinking about it but i'm pretty conflicted since i have invested thousands of hours in the previous games and really, really like them and it's apparently even worse for fans of those games according to some people.

Well I haven't played any previous games, and I've put maybe 8 hours into this. Everything about this game is bland. Next to no combat. You don't even get a sword, no variety in stealth takedowns. The main hub is tiny (which wouldn't be a problem if there was any life in it). You get tired of traversing the same pathways through the hub. I picked up all 15 Basso side quests at the same time, what? You have some leeway throughout each mission but at the end of the day you still must end up at the same spot to go to the next area (no alternate entrances). A barely there story. Another weird thing, if you shoot a guard in the head with an arrow he keels over for you to finish him none lethal. If I hit him in the head with an arrow, I'm pretty sure I just want him dead.

I'm more versed in the Hitman world. And while people crap all over Absolution, there are definitely aspects of that game I would like carried over to any subsequent games. With Thief I can't think of a thing.

I'm perfectly fine with no combat in a stealth game but the rest sounds pretty bad, i guess i'll wait for a heavy discount on steam before i try it, thx for the insight though.

Yeah, looked interesting like for five seconds.  Did you pick it up new Slotts?
