did they teach them in the circle?

completely unrelated. my hawke is a mage and no one bats an eye. i understand that he becomes important, but at the very start when he works with the red iron mercenaries and "he makes a reputation", does no one really knows he's a mage? not a single templar got the word?

completely unrelated: why did i find ABOMINATIONS (possessed mages) in an abandoned thaig (-> dwarves-> no mages) coupled with demons and such?

why am i writing this? because i'm playing da II right off finishing origins for the 4th time, and the gap is SO huge :(:(

Youtube, most likely.

Ah yes, one of the most frequently asked questions in BSN. And there has yet to be any satisfactory answers to it, likely never will be. My guess would be that the Sheer Awesomeness ™ of Hawke blinded everyone.

completely unrelated: why did i find ABOMINATIONS (possessed mages) in an abandoned thaig?

Not all abominations need be possessed mages.

You're kidding right? Staff fighting is pretty common in a lot of cultures, not just the, is it Tibetan Shaolin monks -- we're talking about a heavy stick maybe with metal attachments -- why wouldn't you use it as a weapon? I imagine Bioware took some inspiration from the Lord of the Rings movie. Some of the moves do seem fanciful,

Or various Robin Hood movies. The famous scene of Robin Hood and Little John's first meeting is a quater staff fight. Historically speaking in the Middle and Dark Ages Europe staff fighting was very common because swords cost a LOT of money where as staves didn't and even the nobltily and royallty got into it, for example King Richard III The Lion Heart was said to be an excellant staff fighter.

1) Hawke was taught by his father all things magic. I'm sure that include staff training, not much to ponder about there.

2) Whether you choose the Red Iron Mercenaries or Athenril's smugglers, both mention at the start that they can keep Hawke (or Bethany's) identity of being a mage a secret while they're with them, which they do. Obviously later on in the game it's known to all that Hawke is an apostate, but also a hero.

3) Abominations can possess the dead and/or anyone who can enter the fade. With enough lyrium or through specific ritual, anyone can enter the fade, not just mages. This question is never explained, only infered. It's not unlikely that demons inhabit the deep roads.

These questions are rather ridiculous, if you listened to the dialogue in the game you'd know the answer to them as it is explained.

I think question 3 is fair...Dwarves can't enter the fade normally - they don't dream (unless they're Wardens, because, reasons. Thanks Dragon Age Origins). It seems likely that most underground denziens probably don't dream (without day/night cycles, sleep is probably fairly arbitrary), so it's hard to imagine dwarf abominations.

The only way the abominations could show up is that other things were brought underground or simply because the scary thing(shoot, trying to avoid a spoiler) or the darkspawn presence attracted them. I'm leaning on the scary thing, because throughout the game you see how powerful it is.
