Noob question of the day:

Is there a way to change the format from .bmp to anything else photoshop, gimp, paint or standard windows office programs can read?

.jpg would be nice for a start...

And if there's not a way to change that....

What the hell do y'all use to open/read those screenshots? o_o'

I believe photoshop, gimp, and paint all read .bmp format. Could you give an example of a screenshot you are having difficulty opening? If you are making the screenshots yourself, perhaps your program has a setting to save in jpeg format as well?

I open mine with Microsoft Picture-It. But all my screenshots are already in jpg format, not bmp. Why are mine not bmp to begin with? Maybe that's why they are so dark?

Never mind, wrong game :P

I don't think I've hit a graphics program that *couldn't* open BMPs.

Good news and bad news.

Good news is; I found a program that can open it. Once again, GIMP saves the day, instead of Photshop.

Though still. 4 other programs that are normally able to open most image files are ALL unable to read it. These are the errors I get, but it's all in dutch so I will post translations at the bottom:

This is.. well.. self explanatory. It's the standard image viewing programm delivered by the wonderfull OS *cough ughe ughe /sarcasm cough cough* Windows 8.
Posted Image
The error message basically translates as: Paint cannot read this file. It is not a valid bitmapfile or the setup (? not sure if thats the correct translation) is not being supported.
Posted Image
And this one from photoshop is roughly translated as: Cannot execute your request because the file was ended unexpectedly.

Microsoft office image editor just shows it as a red X. It is usually capable of reading most image files, just like photoshop and GIMP.

Luckily I found a program that can open the files, but still, why the hell can't paint or even photoshop open it when GIMP can?!

Sounds more like the file has some problem, but GIMP makes a best effort attempt.

That's 6 screenshots in a row that have a problem lol

For now I'll just convert em to JPG with gimp I think.
