While we technically already had someone turn into red lyrium, it struck me that DA:I's improved graphical capability could better portray it. Will we be able to see someone turn into red lyrium or even better, fight someone who does? Imagine the transformation scene for a Red Templar Behemoth.

There was a tweet yesterday :

Mary Kirby@BioMaryKirby: ...and a dude just turned inside out. That is not a good salute animation. #sprintreviewday

Maybe it was a templar that turned into a Behemoth. What intrigues me the most is the process of one becoming a red lyrium giant. Does a templar transform into a Behemonth from an overdose of red lyrium or / and long exposure to it ? Do they become red lyrium statues like Meredith and start to attract demons that posses them ?

I realy hope for the first. I'm realy tired of the "the demon did it" explination for every supernatural enemy.

What I want to know is when they become these Behemoths, (and it is the Red Templars because you can see remnants of the armour there), are they made out of red lyrium now? Is it some magically self replicating material? Is Meredith now actually made out of red lyrium?

Is the red lyrium made out of her?

If you look close at the Behemoth chest in this screenshot you can see the templar sword symbol. So yeah, that pretty much confirms that some Red Templars end up becoming Behemoth's . I think there was also a screenshot from the E3 trailer with a Behemoth that had a torned helmet ( the one with no wings ) similar to the one that the templars in DA2 had. I can't seem to find it. I'll come later with an edit.

I'm only guessing, but for some reason I imagine it to be a slow transformation process.

Couldn't find a screenshot. Pause this video at  around 7:55 and you can see the helmet on the Behemoth's head.

If Red Lyrium is self replicating that would explain how the Red Templars got enough of it to forge swords and shields.

Interesting thought . If that's the case, it's possible that the whole Red Templar movement started from the templars in Kirkwall.Maybe they used Meredith's body to fuel their lyrium requirements and maybe they didn't even found the lost thaig.

Could explain the profane.
They ate lyrium , turned to lyrium monster and centuries later the magic ran out and they are rock wraith.
I think maybe red lyrium feed on people and then multiply.
Meaning the more people are using the stuff ,the more red lyrium you can find.

I think you're actually right . What got my attention is the "feasted upon the gods" statement. The Red Templars are playing with really dangerous forces.

It would please me greatly to uncover more on the mystery of the profane, especially the tie to the lyrium idol.

Though I do wonder if something akin to the Anvil of the Void is being used with the Red Templars, only it would be harnessing what was left of Meredith. While the secrets of the actual Anvil may have been lost when Caridin died, maybe he based his creation on something else, something older. Or perhaps what was attempted in Amgarrak was also attempted elsewhere.

Red Lyrium is a mind numbingly dumb concept and the writing team needs to move away from ideas that they came up with while they were on a bad acid trip. It's a cack handed way of making a villain to fight, make him buckets of crazy and then crowbar in a "thou must" position. It was the same with Cerberus, they went from a shady covert organisation in ME1 to buckets of crazy galactic spanning conquest because of "indoctrination"

Bravo BioWare, bravo.

If you take a look at the red lyrium idol when it was first found the rings around the figure is oddly reminiscent of the rings around the eluvian that Merril is piecing together. Don't know if that is intentional or just happen to look cool.

That helmet won't offer much protection. Dammit, BioWare. :pinched:
