If you look close at the Behemoth chest in this screenshot you can see the templar sword symbol. So yeah, that pretty much confirms that some Red Templars end up becoming Behemoth's . I think there was also a screenshot from the E3 trailer with a Behemoth that had a torned helmet ( the one with no wings ) similar to the one that the templars in DA2 had. I can't seem to find it. I'll come later with an edit.

Spoiler : Cullen is a Now a Behemoth
Looks like a templar got a bit freaky with Meredith red idol corpse statuewith so much excitement he turned into a Behemoth.

If Red Lyrium is self replicating that would explain how the Red Templars got enough of it to forge swords and shields.

Could explain the profane.
They ate lyrium , turned to lyrium monster and centuries later the magic ran out and they are rock wraith.
I think maybe red lyrium feed on people and then multiply.
Meaning the more people are using the stuff ,the more red lyrium you can find.

Cerberus was always evil, they just hid it during ME2.billy the squid wrote...
Red Lyrium is a mind numbingly dumb concept and the writing team needs to move away from ideas that they came up with while they were on a bad acid trip. It's a cack handed way of making a villain to fight, make him buckets of crazy and then crowbar in a "thou must" position. It was the same with Cerberus, they went from a shady covert organisation in ME1 to buckets of crazy galactic spanning conquest because of "indoctrination"
Bravo BioWare, bravo.

Couldn't find a screenshot. Pause this video at around 7:55 and you can see the helmet on the Behemoth's head.
There we go I made the screenshot for us
