Iron < Grey Iron < Steel < Veridium < Red Steel < Silverite < Dragonbone < White Steel < Volcanic Aurum

I cant say I am a huge fan of the system, I know forcing the player to constantly upgrade their weapons and armour is a common RPG staple but when it is simply put their as a means to slowly drip feed the player meaningless upgrades the weapons lose any sense of sentimental value especially when your unique steel uber sword of greatness is completely outclassed by the common run of the mill red steel sword that every bandit and his mother now comes equipped with as soon as you reach a certain level.

For instance I am sure you are all familiar with the Staff of Parthalan, Hawke's signature weapon in all of the promotional material (which for some reason was only available as DLC for those who signed up for the newsletter), while being probably the coolest looking staff in game and having more significance to the Hawke family who wield it due to its history it was quickly outclassed by the many generic staves of a higher tier material that the game showered you with after a certain point in the game.

Now obviously for some reason some of you probably think this is a good system as evident by the number of people who complained when this system was ditched in Mass Effect 2 (Mass Effect being the absolute worst and laziest implementation of this system I can think of) but are there any who would like to see something else take its place?

Well they've said you'll be able to customise and upgrade gear, so that if you like the look of something, you could feasibly keep it throughout the entire game.

That sounds pretty good to me.

only as long as the weapon models look any good... which I really do hope they at least have the weapon in the teaser photo at the very least...

I got tired of EVERYTHING worth using in DAO being dragonbone. Every piece of armor and weapon being the same dark red color (except all rogue armor, which is all purple). Warden's Keep kinda fixed it with the armor guy selling armors that have unique colors regardless of tier, but it's all generic stuff... Not really worth using when every single party member has unique and 1 of a kind armor and from quests and DLC by the time I'm halfway through the game. I guess the consolation is that thanks to everyone wearing unique stuff, no one looks dark red except for anyone wearing Wade's armor or Evon the Great's armor, but weapons are all still just the same shade of red.
