i would love to read "the calling" BEFORE playing awakening... unfortunatly im from germany and amazon reads the german version of calling will be release around end of mai >.>

i also wished i could get a signed book from david and the other writers ... heck ALL of the dragon age team ... i would design a golden frame as thick as the book and put it on my wall ^^

would be easier with a signed poster tho ... but well ^^

also taking the chance to say .... i really enjoy the story of dragon age and i "ate" the first book it was very interesting and fascinating to read

thanks alot david and your "lil" helpers (:P) for that epic tale ^^

It's not only exciting for the community to have the same writing team from DAO but it's also super nice for us. No ramp up time on learning the lore. Everyone is on the same page and talking the same language. We hit the ground running right away. Awakening, in general, has been that way. Expansions are fun to work on. :)

And no time learning to use the engine. I remember BG2 being very similar, where you guys(probly not you, specifically) got it out pretty quick since you didn't have to create a brand new engine. >:3

Awakening couldn't come soon enough. THEDAS is a brilliant IP - honestly; all the writers who add to it are credits to Bioware. They company is very lucky to have you. The thing I think I like about the writers of Dragon Age the most is that they're level headed and don't mind talking about their work, unlike the guys who write the Mass Effect stuff who seem really detached from their fans.

Who's awesome? Dragon Age writers are awesome.

Thank you again for creating such a rich, believable world. ^_^

i once started reading "the elves" from "bernhard hennen" which is a really great writer

but i stopped couse his books are sooooooo thick XD

"the stolen throne" from david was so much more fascinating and adictive that i couldnt stopp reading and when i did i couldnt wait to read again

theres not much writers that can tie me to a book like that

im really curious about all the rest of thedas when he explains the lands and cities and people in his books ... really hope you carry on writing dragon age books ^^

It's not going to happen anymore, I'm afraid. It was sort of a backhanded compliment to begin with, and the source of much ugliness on the forums when it happened... so no go. Not from me, anyhow.

So who wrote Lady Shayna's codex entry?

( @mozza - you could buy The Stolen Throne from amazon.co.uk at one point, but now you can't. Both books can be delivered to the uk from amazon.com though, which is how I got The Calling)

Ha! You know... I think that was actually my doing, if I remember. I could be wrong. But it's not a cameo on quite the same level as we did in BG2 or ToB, is it?

I know that it isn't up to writers, but I can't wait for BioWare to start unveiling some details of Awakening. I'm really looking forward to this month and a half of waiting, and can't wait for Awakening to be here :D I've already scoured the trailer for clues, and definitely want more.

I know that neither David nor Sheryl nor Ferret can answer, but I'd really like to know what the tone will be for Awakening. Origins was grand and epic - even the side-quests almost always had an epic feeling to them -, and I'd like to know if Awakening will be another epic story, or a more intimate one...

... Either way, I know I'll be happy! ^^

indeed DA:O really was epic and emotional
i just played the part with the elfes again and watched the scene afterwards in camp
this scene goes so deep when they zoom to the single charakters .. when sten puts down his head thinking ... its so emotional you see exactly the pain and stuff they went through
even the side charakters like the elfgirl besides the leader have a really deep charakter, no one is the same as another
hope awakening gets some emotional scenes too and i hope theres another bard singing in it

*hope this is no spoiler .. tryd to give as less details as possible to explain what i mean*

Can't wait for Awakening either and am super pleased it is the same writing team as you guys did a brilliant job on DA:O! It is a very rich and wonderful world that you have created, and I for one am loving it! I really enjoyed the books too, very well written David, an excellent way to introduce the world and characters. Dragon Age is just WIN!

I've never played a game that compelled me to purchase a novel. Until DA:O, that is. I (gratefully) blame all of the writers of this (captivating) annoying game.

Now to shell out even more money on DLCs and expansions.. absolutely cruel people.. (thank you!)

First, I must say, if only for the reason that I will probably never get a chance to say this directly to any of the writers of my favorite video games, that I absolutely loved DA:O and I admire everyone who worked on writing it. Not only because it's an awesome game, but also as a novice writer myself.

Please don't punch me in the face!

And now, with that out of the way, I shall commence treating you like people. :)

I am so excited for Awakening, though I really do wish Morrigan was in it...my human mage misses his lovable apostate very much.

I am counting the days until the awakenings arrives on my enchanted door mat, I am greatly looking forward to it.
I have never spent so much time playing a game until DAO, I love it so much.

this must be the thread with most Bioware logos in it (or at least the logo/page ratio must be quite high) ...and the devs/writers actually joking and talking to people? ...yeah, not something you often see from companies the size of Bioware ...you guys are awesome and i hope you continue doing that

makes me wonder however... how different those discussions would be if you guys had more time (a rare commodity these days) and no NDA over your heads, regarding the future of the games/settings you create

part of me thinks that people would eventually see past the Writer/Bioware label and focus on the person behind it... another part of me tells the first to shut up and stop being so naive.[.. ah well

I'm not a number. I'm a human being! :)

Funny thing is that even having been in the industry a long time meeting some gaming luminaries and whatnot can make my throat choak up like a nervous school boy. We are definitely just people. Very bizarre and demented people, but people nonetheless. At least, that's what my tricorder tells me.

So where do you "people" come to possess this writing talent? Through hobby or school?...or are you just gifted and it comes naturally
