i hear alot of talk about arcane warrior but i don't know if i'll like it , it seems like if i wanted to be a warrior i'll just be a warrior you know but can someone help me what kind of builds are fun to be in dragon age? also if your able just to tell me what trees to use that be very helpful to since i know very little about being a mage and don't know which tree to use if you suggest a certain build.

Theoretically, if you build a good AW and you're careful enough, you can solo on Nightmare like a boss. Personally, I'm not a very big fan of playing Mage characters either (I tend to love DW Rogues or Warriors when I play) but I can't downplay the power of a well built AW character.
A good party for your AW would be AW Warden as Damager, Wynne for Healer/Buff, then Alistair for Tank, Morrigan for Controller/Debuff. You could replace Alistair with Oghren if you want more power in your party, or with Zevran/Leliana for thievery.
Alot of this depends on your personal playstyle. My main problem with being a Mage Warden is I tend to rush into the fray every bloody time, so that's why I can't really depend on big spells and an AW Mage can still do that. They can 1v1 even the biggest baddies with ease. An AOE Controller Mage just gets boring for me. If you want to make a mage, your first decision is to figure out what role that mage will take, because if you split it up and go for a bunch of different spell trees you'll quickly fall behind maximum efficiency. The role your mage Warden takes should also fit what you normally want to do in battle. If you're like some with micromanaging everything there's little problem, but if you like to actually let the rest of the party do their thing and control only your Warden you could have a tough time filling the role you want in practice due to playstyle habits.

Well the two great builds for mage (depending on your difficulty) tend to be an AOE Controller or an Arcane Warrior build. You could go with Arcane Warrior/Blood Mage and with the right gear and the right spells you'll essentially be unstoppable on ANY difficulty. An AOE Controller type can be fun and very effective but it's only useful on Normal and lower simply due to Friendly Fire.

someone who doesn't enjoy being a mage on the forum's quick kill it ! , lol jk but its glad to know someone else doesn't enjoy being a mage too much like everybody else on here and from what you told me it seems like my only route is being a AW Mage since i suppose in my first playthrough i was a AOE kind of Mage since i took all the Elemental spells this is gonna be very annoying then since i know nothing about AW Mage but i suppose theres always time to learn something new in this game

and then bodhan will have a 2nd tomb for sell when you come back,
then the Connor fade demon will give one tomb, the mage tower has a tomb for sell,
wonders of thedas in denirim, so thats at least 5 extra spell talents you can get.
On spending them, if you arent going to go H2H, the first AW skill combat magic will still
grant you goodies, altho you will not activate that sustainable,
i would pick armor that has mana reserve and /or mana regeneration, and of course armor,
such as blood armor, battledress of the provocateur, Wade's stuff, WCA, especially the boots,
no mage dress can keep up.
Amulet the high regard of house dace.
Blood magic at lv 14 up to blood wound, cailans armor heal a nice +5 life not affected by blood magic activator, get blood ring in the informal proving for lower life cost.
i think i would start game with spellshield and rock armor even if i didnt intend to fight H2H

One spell makes every mage build 50% funner: Virulent Exploding Bomb.
With Insect Swarm as well.
Though OP have you considered some of the off builds? Like Shapeshifter/Arcane Warrior for a animal tank, or the Necromancer build?
