Notice, that similar joking around and silliness goes on in other threads, and nothing really happens. What does it say about that group who take affront to particular topics and seem obsessed with projecting their own issues into those topics?

That said, I have no problem with Varric pulling a If It's You, It's Okay for the Inquisitor.

1. I don't expect anything. I said it would be great to see, not that I would murder Bioware if I didn't see it .

2. Because we already know Varric. We know he's just not into Humans. He even says as much. There's nothing wrong with staying true to an already established character. Varric spent 7 years with Hawke. We know he likes cute dwarven girls. We know he's not into humans. It wouldn't be a stretch for him not to be into Humans. It's not even a stretch for him not to be into anyone BUT Dwarves. In fact it'd be more of a strech for him to SUDDENLY dig humans when he's previously stated he doesn't.

3. Since there are no confirmed LI's yet, it's fun to speculate.

Whether Varric is a LI made available to everyone, only made available to dwarves, or not a LI at all (again), the BSN will still be "torn asunder."

I think you're underestimating Varric fans. Most Varric fans would be perfectly Okay withVarric (if made a LI at all) to be Dwarf only, if for no other reason then it validates WHY he wasn't available for Hawke to Romance

Also It lends to already established characteristics. I mean, we don't have ANY idea at this point what the other companions feel about relationships and race. Varric's the only one who we have previous information about.

Take Cass for example. We know she had a fling with a Mage at one point in her life. A Male Human mage. But it's never said otherwise that she's full-blown straight. For all we know she could very well be Bi or Pan. She could very well be Magesexual. She could be very well be ONLY into humans. She could have a hard time dating a Qunquisitor but through their actions grow to srepsect and eventually overcome her previous issues with the idea of it.

I don't think you get the point. This place will explode if they put a feature like this in game, where Varric is the only LI that has restrictions. This place will explode into itty bitty pieces.

In the long run, all I care about is having the choice to romance the character that I find most interesting, out of all potentials provided in game, with any PC I choose to play. I got that option in DA2, instead of being forced to make characters that I don't identify with, I got to make the character I preferred and play the way I most enjoyed. I hope BW continues on that path, and not the DAO route. I think arbitrary restrictions is silly, and don't add to "realism."

I'm certainly not blaming you. I'm thanking you. I hadn't intended to get this thread locked down, but you guys have made that far more likely. 

It's not going to hurt me, you wanted to discuss the topic more than I did. If romance threads and their discussion offend you so, then stay out of the thread.

It doesn't particularly offend me, at least not initially, until it becomes the exact same argument all over again, but that's irritating, not offensive. At which point I start making fun, because the thread is already headed for lockdown and it's derailed into something only vaguely similar to the original post.

You've somehow taken offense but, if you let it go, this conversation wouldn't have happened and a series of silly posts 2 pages ago would have simply been forgotten. Congratulations for derailing this better than I ever could.

In the long run, all I care about is having the choice to romance the character that I find most interesting, out of all potentials provided in game, with any PC I choose to play. I got that option in DA2, instead of being forced to make characters that I don't identify with, I got to make the character I preferred and play the way I most enjoyed. I hope BW continues on that path, and not the DAO route. I think arbitrary restrictions is silly, and don't add to "realism."

I agree, I want the most RPing choices as possible for every player, whether they iclude race, sexuality, or faction.  The more the better!

They may be based on race, sex, looks, or whatever.
I doubt the BSN will be torn asunder by anything romantic .
Most players don't do the romances and I suspect people will be excited about DAI the romances won't be an immediate concern.
Criticism of anything players dislike will come later.

I have a tendency to jump on posters who start unnecessary or repetitious threads.
It's irritating to see those, especially if you're in a bad mood.
I'm always in a bad mood.
We've got this influx of new BSN members who won't search to see if a topic has been done before, before they start a new thread and it's irritating .
But it's up to the mods to find a solution , or for a player to post it on the BSN improvement thread.
You vent about it, then you move on.

If you searched, you would see that the new solution is to bring out the banhammer of justice on derails like this.
