I don't think you get the point. This place will explode if they put a feature like this in game, where Varric is the only LI that has restrictions. This place will explode into itty bitty pieces.

The place is going to explode into ity bity peices no matter what they do :P It's BSN. That's what it does.:wizard:

Don't make him a LI? Explode.
Make him Dwarf only? Explode.
Make all LI player-sexual? Explode

Pmuch expect this place to be a giant cluster-(badwordhere) come this time next year. There will be "BUT WITCHER 3 DID IT SO MUCH BETTER" and "OMG (LI) IS MINE SO WUNDERFUL" and "WHY CAN'T I KILL (x comapion) BECAUSE (dumbest reason ever)!" all over the place.;)

Uh, no?  I don't have any particular investment in the romance aspect of the game,  I just don't mind that other people do.  It's really quite simple, I am able to accept the fact that other people have a different opinion than me.  Also, I really dislike bullies, and someone who enters a thread with the intent to belittle and make fun of those that enjoy the subject is a bully.

Oh Lordy, Lordy I'll never sin again!

You've done exactly what I said always happens. Critisism leads to someone taking affront, which leads to the derailment. Thank you for making my point for me.

Opinions are not sacrosanct, if you don't like the criticism fine, don't let the door hit you on the way out. My reply was to Allan, I disagree with how he looks at it, and if you handn't taken affront to what I said. This would have ended on the previous page as we got bored an wandered off.

You started things off again, and here we are.

So you act like a jerk, hoping someone will react to you acting like a jerk, so you can be a jerk over the fact that you got a rise out of someone by acting like a jerk.

If romance threads and their discussion offend you so, then stay out of the thread.

It doesn't particularly offend me, at least not initially, until it becomes the exact same argument all over again, but that's irritating, not offensive. At which point I start making fun, because the thread is already headed for lockdown and it's derailed into something only vaguely similar to the original post.

See, you've done exactly what I said always happens. Criticism is not allowed "you can only like what I like and if you don't get out"

You've somehow taken offense but, if you let it go, this conversation wouldn't have happened and a series of silly posts 2 pages ago would have simply been forgotten. Congratulations for derailing this better than I ever could.

"LOL.  My intentional jibe at people who enjoy things that I don't has elicited a response from people.  Now I will blame them for responding to my intentional derailing of the thread and blame them.  Muahahaha!"

I'm certainly not blaming you. I'm thanking you. I hadn't intended to get this thread locked down, but you guys have made that far more likely.

It's not going to hurt me, you wanted to discuss the topic more than I did. Yes, and if I'm making a jibe and you were silly enough to take it and get your panties in a bunch, you really proved my point regarding how vitriolic posters are whenever you criticise something they've invested themselves to an absurd degree. You just became offended on their behalf.

Also, I had no intention to make a reply until your unnecessary jibe at those who do enjoy this subject.  And yes I became offended on their behalf because I generally become offended at unnecessary digs at people who are not offending anyone in the slightest.

Also, you keep mentioning vitriolic posters and taking offence to them, I am perfectly fine with posters who take offence (for whatever reason) to the romances.  That is not what this little "tiff" is about.  You specifaclly took offense to this entire thread (for reasons unknown), that is what I dislike.  I'm not sure why you can't comprehend my reasoning, or the fact that you might be the single most hypocritical poster in all time, but all the power to you.

P.S.  I am sorry for derailing the thread, just felt it necessary.

Off topic: I see the Clique are here to derail things they don't like about a thread/s topic or particularly participants again, seriously guys, rather than entertaining, your shtick is getting to be a tiresome read.

On topic: The more I play the more I find myself disliking the playsexual side to the romances, I think because the more often you play the deeper you find getting to understand the characters better, but I understand why it has been done, to open it up to the maximum number of players. I guess on that level, it's a good thing.

I thought that the sentiment with Morrigan was pretty nice throughout. It started out casual, but then it grew into something more. With the DA ][ romances I didn't see such a development. Most of this happened outside of the players view in the time breaks between acts.

As for the bold, yes, it is tiresome and also a littlle... childish?  That may be the word I am looking for.  "The Clique" just seems so high school to me.

However, I will say that I greatly enjoy the player-sexual aspect just because it lets everyone (including me) enjoy the romance of their choice.

It wasn't balanced at all.
Apart from the whole 'you get two LIs and you only get one', the conversations weren't paced properly. You could spam gifts at the most inappropriate times.. Alistair and Morrigan were way more integrated into the plot than Zevran and Leliana.

Well that's true. However we won't have to worry about that in DA:I. It's good that BioWare changed this. I like that every LI is more integrated into the plot and actually acknowledges more of the PC's actions. A change for the better I think.

I don't disagree with you, but I found DA2's romances poorly paced in the opposite direction. At least some of them.*coughIsabelacough*.

Though I suppose that was more an issue tied to DA2's timeline.

It was balanced in that male and female characters each had an equal amount of characters to choose from, and if you didn't use gifts, then you had to think about which choices were the best ones for creating a relationship.

I am sorry that this particular sentiment applies to you Br3ad, but
"I" think the general consensus is that "The Clique" generally likes to derail threads and start crap.

I have seen many posts by you that are thoughtful and thought provoking, but many of the others in the "Clique" are not regarded as such.

Also, I used parenthesis around I just to pronunciate my own thoughts on the matter and no one elses.

Don't be silly.  Those damn gifts forced us to give them away.  Those demon statues for Alistair threatened me multiple times until it became Bodahns problem.

Hah, that reminds me. Didn't they make a DLC that was pretty much all gifts for the store?

You going to ban somebody who just joined the BSN for starting a repetitious thread ?
Unlikely.
You going to ban the BSN vet who is irritated and complains ?
Unlikely , if he just says his peace and leaves.
More likely if he contiunes a protracted argument with other posters and says he disagrees with a mod after a mod warning .
lol.
Schumacher must be getting soft. I remember him glaring through the prism of the BSN with an icy glare saying don't do that again.
His good mood must be from playing DAI all day.
Well we all want to feel way.
Schumacher needs to share all that mellow feelin.
It's good to share.
All he has to do is tell us everything . Everything about DAI. I'm using my sloth demon voice. So come on and share. You'll feel so much better. rotfl.

That's why I prefer not to use them. DA ][ did have a better system with gifts than DA:O. I think gifts are good in theory. But only if they are rare and far in between.

Again, if you didn't use the gifts, then it wasn't as much of an issue.

Though, Blackrising, why do you feel the pacing was off?
