I am looking for input from people who actually read the novels.
I am mostly interested in Ascention, since it seems to be heavily tied to Cerberus and TIM. Realistically, I'm not expecting a marvel of literature, from a writer who seems to produce, exclusively, popular game tie-in sci-fi works. However if there would be a moment in the game when I will go: "Oh yeah, I know what he's talking about..." I would consider giving it a read.
Thank you.
Would reading ME novels enhance the ME2 experience?

I believe it would.
I read them both, they're quick reads and they're enjoyable ones. I'd recommend both.

You'll have a better idea who TIM is and how he thinks. Yes, I think it would add to your understanding of ME2.
Just don't be expecting some grand work of literature.

You know, I've never actually finished Ascension. Might have to do that before Mass Effect 2 comes out. Kinda lost intrest about halfway through.
Revelation was great, though. Read it way before I played Mass Effect (a good four months or something, I think), and I still remembered it when playing the game. Helped me to better understand Saren and Captain Anderson, as well as humanity's developments in the 22nd century.

They are both great. Ascension made me feel like I knew what ME2 would be about, and I was right.

To put it simply: Yes!
They really enhance your whole view on the Mass Effect Universe, and they give you great insight into what exactly will happen in the next.....plus
Bit of a spoiler here...
They travel to Omega and the Quarian fleet, giving a fairly good description about the two....its awesome.

I've read them, and I'd say they're worth it. The first novel moreso than the second, but any people who actually care about the side elements of the story should read them. Karpshyn's work on the Darth Bane novels is far better, but the Mass Effect novels are a fun read.

They're not fantastic, but yes...they provide some more colouring of the ME universe.

Read both. I read both in 1 day. They are awesome. I expected it to not be so easy to read, as it was a book tied into a game. But it was also not dumbed down so 12 year olds could read them. I bought them together after I had already played ME1 about 10 playthroughs. I wish I would have read the first one before ME1 but I still enjoyed it.
Ascension was great. I liked it better of the two, although Revelation exceeded my expectations by a long shot. I recommend both.

They are fun, quick books. I've read them both twice now in my excitement for ME2. :-)

Ascension gives some good background on the collectors, Omega, and Cerberus. It pretty quick to read to.

REVELATION is about Anderson and Saren's past. It also spends a lot of time setting up the ME universe for people who haven't played the game. I doubt much of it really matters in ME2.

I'm just going to say no. What I know of the books leads me to believe it doesn't have the same "shades of grey" tone as the game, and on these forums it only seems to provide lore ammunition for rabid Lawful Stupids to misinterpret.
