David Gaider: I don’t think we’ve ever presented the idea of a mage revolution as being the best answer with an obviously good resolution.

I'll have you know Mr. Harby kitty is quite capable of certain acts.
Spiteful ones being his main preference.
I take away his dead mouse he sh*ts in my shoe.
I don't feed him fast enough he grinds my relatives into paste and builds more Harby Kitties.
Fun times for all...

Rationality is thinking/acting within a certain set of rules/bounds/logic/laws. For there to be rules, rules have to be made. Rules are also subjective and are made through emotion.
Yes rational thoughts don't exist without emotions. To have any kind of opinion on any matter you have to care about it in the first place.

Logic can FUNCTION without emotion, but it cannot EXIST without emotion. It's getting hard to explain, because we are going very deep.
I haven't done any logic courses, I am just grasping to common sense, word meanings and experience.
Animals having emotions is obvious.

Yes , science has. It's called watching them. All the selfaware animal have emotions. If dolphins can commit suicide then they clearly have emotions.Medhia Nox wrote...

But - you haven't spent much time around plants, or maybe not enough time for it to be obvious that they too have emotions.
But... PhD's the world over aren't sure if either have emotions - despite how obvious it is.
You are right - we ARE going deep.

That not true. Logic does not need emotion. What motavates logic is motive. Emotion is not the only thing that does that.KainD wrote...

What he's saying, I believe, is that without emotion you wouldn't bother at all. Irl, he's probably right. In game, he's probably still right, since I think the Tranquil have demonstrated that the Rite doesn't get it all.

To be fair though, emotions are caused by a chemical reactions in the brain, which plants don't really have. What plants have as far as I remember is just some diferent version of DNA, that dictates how they grow.
But really emotions are by all means physical. Which of course won't make sense in a fantasy world that somehow stops physical functions of the brain by cutting the person off from the fade..

Sociological rules like the golden rule also exist. After all, those with all the money do in fact make the rules, we even pay them to make the rules we live by, even ones we don;t agree with.
But that is neither here or there, emotions are over-rated, and certainly not a neccisary point in which logic and reason need in order to exist.

Key word on "or". That means motive can be an emotion and also something else entirely. You can have a motive that has noting to do with emotion and a motive that 100% is cased by emotion. That means emotion is only an option not a necessity.KainD wrote...

Emotions are by definition care, attitude. You care for anything at all, and have any kind of opinion, only because you have emotions.

Emotion can be a motive, but that doesn't mean emotion is the motive.
It's not the only thing that can motivate, and definatly not the primary thing in a lot of cases.
