Ignored like nobles raping commoners, mayhaps?Illegal, but that law is pretty much ignored universely. As long as you are discreet, nobody cares. Lambert all but alluded to the fact that the Black Divine was a blood mage too.
David Gaider: I don’t think we’ve ever presented the idea of a mage revolution as being the best answer with an obviously good resolution.

Yep. The problem was never Mages vs templar...But Nobles vs Commoners. Or more of the case of the People who are incharge that misuse their power vs the ones who want free will to live there lives.eluvianix wrote...
Bingo. As long as you have power in Thedas, it seems that quite a few people are willing to look the other way at some "questionable acts".Xilizhra wrote...

I think he was a landed knight who didn't get his land back after it was retrieved from the Orlesians because Maric realized he was a dick.

Loghain refers to it in the Landsmeet.
I've always assumed the unspeakable things Leliana mentioned happening to her while she was imprisoned by the Orlesians included rape.
I hate rapists btw.
Seems sort of off topic doesn't it?

You can't be serious?Fereldan women were terrorized by the chevaliers and Loghain can attest to that.MisterJB wrote...

True, they what till a war happens to do it. Also, raiders and ciminals of the under world do it,too. That still does not mean Orlias is better then tevintor.MisterJB wrote...
The raping of fereldan woman, while certainly horrible, happened during an occupation where the whole of Orlais was taking advantage of the whole of Ferelden; had the roles been reverted, it would be orlesian women being raped by ferelden men. But Chevaliers don't make it a routine business of going to foreign nations and enslaving its citizens like Tevinters do and if you want to determine which country is worse, then you should also take a look at their foreign policy.

2- Tevinter has conquered or destroyed many more nations than Orlais has.
3 - Tevinter is much more corrupt and decadent than Orlais and has much larger and more impoverished underclasses because it includes all non mages and the slaves beneath them.
4 - The Imperial Chantry has much more control of the state than the Andrastian Chantry, making Tevinter closer to a theocracy.
5 - Orlais is experiencing a cultural renaissance under Celene where anti slavery laws are being more enforced and edcuation and the arts are being emphasized, while Tevinter is slowly declining further and further.

Number 1 and 2 Orlais are guilty of as well.Hell there's a reason the elves are rebelling in Orlais since the largest Alienage there is also the worst when it comes to living conditions.Jedi Master of Orion wrote...
1- Tevinter has so many slaves that it would collapse without them. Orlais does not. And the "servants" it has are treated much better. They also are much greater participants in the existing slave trade.

Orlais is so obsessed with their Grand Game that they can't stop fighting for one minute to see that everything is falling apart around them.

This is actually completely backwards. The Imperial Chantry is quite weak and completely dominated by the magisters.4 - The Imperial Chantry has much more control of the state than the Andrastian Chantry, making Tevinter closer to a theocracy.

The Imperial Chantry is not weak because it is run by Magisters. It's powerful among the people of Tevinter, and it's strong because it's directly tied to the Magisterium.
The Codex entry on Tevinter talks about how corrupt and decadent it is. The Codex entry on Orlais talks about it's masks.
The power struggle between magisters is more brutal than the Orlesian Grand Game because it isn't bound by the pretext of honor and appearance. As a result more people are caught in the middle, especially since the blood of slaves directly fuels that power struggle. Killing of abusing servants doesn't help Orlesian nobles like it does Tevinter Magisters.
And my point was also that Orlais may have conquered other nations, but Tevinter conquered more so it's worse.
