David Gaider: I don’t think we’ve ever presented the idea of a mage revolution as being the best answer with an obviously good resolution.

Besides, the Architect promised to stop the Blights, remember? We can trust an amoral talking Darkspawn - he's never even heard the Chant of Light!

That Architect was a good myn.

:?

In the Calling, the Architect tried to infect every living being with the taint as a way to end blights.

I've seen plenty of threads that called for the mass murder of mages and the destruction of Tevinter.

Link these threads.

Kind of why I hope he lives after the events of Awakening regardless of what choice

He's a good antagonist

Fine then. If the threat of the Qunari doesn't affect you, what about a Blight that you cannot stop?

Kill every single Darkspawn and Broodmother. Then kill the Archdemon. Since it's soul won't have a place to go, it will just die.

Unrealistic but that's one of the things you have in common with those on the other side.

Wars aren't routine like Tevinter slaving operations. Also Chevaliers are hardly alone in doing terrible things during wars. There are many reasons Orlais is better than Tevinter.

But Tevinter has the Magisters so they get a pass.

Says who?

I daresay you'll be hard pressed to encounter posts calling for the destruction of Tevinter whereas "Destroy Orlais, destroy the Chantry; kill all Templars, kill all Qunari" are a dime a dozen.

Foolish Mages, acting like their opinions matter.

Guess we'll have a lot more Tranquil when this is over.

You're far too kind, burning them at the stake serves a two fold purpose. purification and keeping the general populace warm.

This is what I'm talking about......

Ya, because pro mages like Plantiff, Xil and others don't post things far worse then that.

Er, worse than burning an entire nation's mage population for fuel? I'm rather doubtful.

Corypheus and the Architect, did they know each other? And if so, who would win in a grudge match?

Some peopel can't tell satire from being serious. Most of the pro templar post are in fact satire.

It's not speculation. It's been explicitly stated that The Imperium would collapse without slaves. The Codex also states that Tevinter is the biggest consumer of the slaves trade by far and that victims who go to Orlais are "lucky" because they are usually treated gently.

The Imperial Chantry is not weak because it is run by Magisters. It's powerful among the people of Tevinter, and it's strong because it's directly tied to the Magisterium.

The Codex entry on Tevinter talks about how corrupt and decadent it is. The Codex entry on Orlais talks about it's masks.

The power struggle between magisters is more brutal than the Orlesian Grand Game because it isn't bound by the pretext of honor and appearance. As a result more people are caught in the middle, especially since the blood of slaves directly fuels that power struggle. Killing of abusing servants doesn't help Orlesian nobles like it does Tevinter Magisters.

And my point was also that Orlais may have conquered other nations, but Tevinter conquered more so it's worse.

nope chantry propaganda is chantry propaganda and i do not judge from one point of view in the same way i cannot judge orlais as i have not seen enough about it

There's no point in discussing anything if you dismiss everything as Chantry propaganda. Everything I said comes from either Fenris, the Codex, World of Thedas or fighting Tevinter slavers in the games. That's all the information there is on the subject from Bioware.

Without the aid of magic? And then there's the fact that only Grey Wardens can safely fight something with Tainted blood. (Given that the quote that this thread was started due to points out that that's far more dangerous than the games show, I really hope nobody tries to use the way PCs only get infected for plot reasons as evidence.)

You're morally in line with the Red Templars, but I think they'll be mandatory antagonists.

This may be wrong, but I think he means elves as a distinctive culture and not a Chantry-brutalized, half-enslaved, almost-completely-amnesiac one.

I fully support a distinct culture for the elves. Just not an isolationist racist one, based on promoting and creating a racially pure state to advance an agenda of racial supremacy.

Racially pure state sounds close enough

The formatting is the product of not having a pc.
Mine is broken and yes the dog broke it.
The method I have lacks a formatting mechanism.
It shouldn't be important , unless YOU cherry cheesecake , have some superiority complex.

I don't defend a lot of positions Xil has, but those examples you quoted don't mean she said that elves should wipe out humans.

Is it feasible at the moment? No but it's, theoretically, possible and Thedas should have about half a millenium until the next Blight and a lot can happen in that time.
In 500 years, we have gone from musquets to nuclear bombs and killer drones.

Where do you think all of those humans in the Dales are going to be going? Neither scenario is going to be pleasant.
