David Gaider: I don’t think we’ve ever presented the idea of a mage revolution as being the best answer with an obviously good resolution.

So if Vaughen saved Denerim he'd be redeemed?

If Zevran and Loghain find redemption with The Warden, why not Velanna?

Well I uh never recruite those guys for the same reason I roast Velanna when I see her.

Because you favor retribution over rehabilitation? How Dalish of you.

While I agree that the Dalish can't be blamed for what she did didn't they kick her out because they knew the humans would want revenge for her murders not of a sense of morality?

No, they kicked her out because, well the way the elf puts it in in Awakening, is because she was like a poison, negatively influencing the clan and her anger kept her from seeing reason.

Velanna hadn't committed any murders at the point she was exiled. She was exiled because she was such a negative influence in the clan becase of her anger and desire for revenge.

I must say my friends. The length people go to defend the Dalish about every single thing is certainly hilarious

Anger breed by the culture she was born and raised in.

It is also equally hilarious the lenghts people will go to to absolve the Chantry of any wrongdoing when it comes to the Dalish as well.

I see no one doing that. Only those that continue to point out the Dalish hands are just as dirty.

Reading through the posts now I see people pointing out the chantry's faults but also pointing out the Dalish are just as bias as they are.

Meanwhile, we have Dalish supporters going, "No the chantry is bias and wrong. The dalish are not! Here are their accounts. They were perfectly within their rights to leave Orlais and the other human kingdoms to the horrible monsters because of... stuff. Shut up!"

Basically, my friends. if you are going to argue this debate, you are going to have to learn that your side isn't a paragon of morality that is right all the time. It makes you look silly.

I have read 9 pages. Lobsel has pointed out repeatedly that there is more than the Chantry's version, and it can't be taken as gospel truth. His posts were taken out of context repeatedly, and often with some form of insult.

Over the course of nine pages, I have seen more examples of the chantry apologists going out of their way to make it look like the Dalish were the more guilty party.

Granted, some people have also called for some pretty extreme stuff so the Dalish could have 'justice.'

Me personally, I think taking all the evidence from both sides into account, I feel like the Chantry and Orlais had the most to gain by starting the war, and the most motivation.

Take that as you will.

I suppose the interpretation of their comments comes along with how we take the inflection, or supposed inflection, of their typed words. Without knowing how they are meaning to say it, it becomes really easy to misconstrue and misinterpret what they're saying.

I say this because after reading the past nine pages, I had the opposite impression.

*shrug* Whatever.

Well you guys have helped me make a decision. My Inquisitor will say "F*ck it!" and leave the Veil Tears open. Everyone is so horrible and they are just going to kill each other anyway. Time to purge Thedas and start over. There we go; problem solved.

Quick question...how will Thedas start over with a demonic horde rampaging through the world and a darkspawn army underneath its surface, constantly moving?

Well we keep killing the Darkspawn and being racist towards both them and demons. I mean no one helped the demons reclaim the place that they had before the Veil came. They deserve to have Thedas after being treated this way for so long.

....Thedas hasn't done a very good job killing darkspawn before, except during blights when they're forced to care about them (and is probably the only time dwarves ever get a break.)

The dwarves are losing their war against the darkspawn, slowly, inch by inch. The surface is suffering greatly from demons and their own civil wars. I don't think it's possible to truly wipe out the darkspawn unless all of thedas united to make a single great army and launched a campaign into the deep roads. But that won't happen for political reasons on the surface (darkspawn are dwarven problems, according to Cousland and Mage origins when talking to Duncan-Orlesian civil war-mage/templar war...etc.)

Nah, during the Fourth Blight though, they cleaned house. They can do it again. Blight or no, it just takes effort.

After the Fourth Blight the nations of Thedas didn't even deal with the darkspawn in the Anderfels.

I doubt it. if the tevinter imperium and the dwarven empire, who where at their peak during the first blight ,could not destroy the darkspawn that the current and weaker chantry nations cannot do either.

As for the dalish , yes they are bigots and for the most time they are to much stuck in the past but i find their story about the fall of the dales more believable then rubbish of the chantry. the dalish had for less reasons to invade orlais and little to gain from it.

you can partially blame the chantry for that. as long they keep shouting that the darkspawn are a punishment from the maker a lot of people are simply going to ignore the darkspawn

They simply dealt with the darkspawn on the surface, and did nothing to aid the dwarves in dealing with the ocean of darkspawn in the Deep Roads. Orzammar has pretty much dealt with the darkspawn on their own, with some aid from the Grey Wardens alone.

The existence of the Inquisition could change that with a Dalish Inquisitor at the helm.

Just how powerfull do you think the Inquisition will be?

Adn how do you make sure the Inquisition suports the Dalish to begin with?

Dalish Inquisitor?
Ok....and when he dies? What then?
When resntement within his own ranks starts to build up? What then?

I don't think you guys actually know what clean house means....

You don't have to defeat everything or even the majority to "clean house." Just by killing an overwhelming number of them, proportional to their own forces.

Uh, recruiting an assassin who just tried to kill you (after being hired to kill you) is a bit of a terrible idea.  Especially if it's just you and Alistair.  You, who may have never heard of the Crows at all before, only has his word to go on.  Loghain also has Alistair being pratty over it, and some people seem to value his opinion for whatever reason.

Plus, Zevran can opt to try and kill you with his friend later on, so he basically was lying about how he's a target just because he failed to kill you the first time.  If he wasn't so interested in leaving the crows in the first place, he could easily have just killed everyone in their sleep or through any other number of methods.

Edit: Is there anyone who agrees with taking Zevran in the party members?  Maybe Leliana?
