Not really getting into this (endless) bitchfest about Liara, but to "do violence" to something in fiction is to exaggerate the character or plot's weaker attributes for the sake of the speaker's own negative, aggressive bias.
So, essentially, the entirety of the Story and Campaign sections of the BSN.

Not a native english speaker so the expression was a bit strange to me as well.

No, no. Cybernetically enhanced pyjaks is what we'll see if you pick Refuse, and they finally evolve eons from now. They're the ones who pick up Liara's time capsule. She's like the antithesis of Krogans and Renegade Shepard. An enabler of Pyjaks.

I think he is referring to the line during the romance scene where Liara says, "It would be easy for a single ship to get lost up there, wouldn't it?"
If that is the line he is referring to it certainly isn't supposed to be taken literally.

Ah.. never heard/seen that scene. I could see how it could interpreted like that.
That said, I'd probably run myself. Haha.. Open up some untapped relay and jump in blind. That's the Jon Grissom way. I'd take my chances suffering on some unknown planet with crazy primitives than dealing with a Reaper invasion. Best case scenario is you live like a beach bum, have lots of sex, and manage to carry on the human race in isolation (so long as you have a human mate at least). Or maybe I'm missing something.

Perhaps if the line is taken out of context.
Here is the full scene.
When viewed as part of the whole scene it is rather obvious that neither she or Shepard, who agrees, is actually advocating desertion.

Fair enough. There's a lot of context there, so it just comes off like she's musing. Not serious.
On the subject of "context"... that scene was long. Not too long. Just long. Just right. I already knew there was favoritism to Liara without a romance, but damn.. it's even more with one.

You can't perform acts of violence by expressing an opinion whether it is negative or not. Violence is a physical act of harm against another. Liara isn't real and having aggressive or negative bias opinions about her is not violence.

If you want that, then start with remaking ME2 and cut out / combine the squadmates and reduce the cast. Making them unkillable might help too.

Sure, you can. The character isn't real, but the source material from which the characters derive is. You're thinking a little too literally about the word "violence".
Violence -- a : intense, turbulent, or furious and often destructive action or force; b : vehement feeling or expression : fervor; also : an instance of such action or feeling. Link for you.
Also, for the hell of it: Types of Violence and Abuse. Many other types than "physical".
Whether you do so to this particular character or not, I honestly couldn't care less. But yes, exaggerating negative attributes about a piece of fiction and attacking said attributes fits perfectly fine with the phrase that was used.

You have a point. bashing a character can been by a person as a form of verbal abuse against a character. However, you cannot just claim "verbal abuse" simply because someone has a different opinion that is not favorable toward a character.
Also, just because you interpret someone's feelings as vehement does not mean it actually is. So to claim that people are "violent" toward X character just for expressing an opinion, interpretation, or what have you is not a claim that holds much water.
ex. I remember laughing with someone a while ago about picking up Liara last in ME1 and how delirious she was and we were accused of bashing the character.
I would be reluctant to take the word "violence" seriously in this case or any other concerning the opinions expressed against any squadmate as it comes across as more of a dramatic stretch. If I have to use any definition for it, then it would be the fallacy of exaggeration. Something both Liara lovers and haters can be guilty of at times.

I'm not a Liara hater, but I think the time where she really grates on me is Mars and how they wrote her as a sort of tutorial character. There was a time when she was kneeling down and cowering.. you know just a scientist who left the fightig to others. Now she's instructing Shepard how to do simple things like take cover. It's kind of jarring. Also, Alenko is both older than and outranks my Shepard now, and she has that comment about how capable he's become.. like he's some little child who's finally spreading his wings. Seems like this stuff is written for new players. Not to mention he's already a member of the Master Sentinel Race.. so there's no reason to doubt those types anyways
wow "like he's some little child who's finally spreading his wings." is that how you felt the comment was?
"she's [instructing] Shepard how to do simple things like take cover". harsh? not a hater?
did you make YOUR shepard trilogy, completely ignoring liara? from me1 to me3.
