I'm very curious to see how Liara's appeal was if she wasn't a love interest, probably drop down ten-fold.

I would still like her.

But she wouldn't be yor GF4L anymore.

She won't be either way.

Like she's really gonna stay loyal for the next 850 years

Because on an out-of-game level, I'm angry at this entire attempt at a plot point for the continuing masturbation over straightforward militaristic races and denigration of both the entire profession of politics/diplomacy and the general, well, preference for peace that the asari have. In addition to what I suspect are crypto-mysogynist leanings somewhere in here.

Too bad you just had to go completely off the rails at the end with your usual line.

"denigration of both the entire profession of politics/diplomacy"

Have you not noticed that Mass Effect is not a particularily mature series? Although the setting is ripe for a serious depiction of politics and diplomacy, they chose to pander to the LCD with their juvenile portrayal of politicians. Politicians are unpopular and an easy target. For the age group that buys these games a "politicans are baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad" line goes over fine.

"continuing masturbation over straightforward militaristic races"

Soldiers, spaceships, and explosions are cool. That's all.

Based on the size of threads for romancables vs non-romancables in the character sub-forum days, you'd be right on that one.

They're obvious ****** material for teenage male nerds. Magical space pansexual/lesbo bimbos that like being mercs and strippers? Rofl.

To be fair, that's like every female character in the entire series, so I give the asari a pass for that one.

Being loyal isn't the right term Steel, at least not in Asari's perspective. If I was in that position, I would want her to find love again, regardless of how she felt with Shepard - it's not like another person's love is going to be compared, at least it shouldn't - since Shepard could of brought out different side of her that she wasn't aware of and the same could be said for another "lover" in the future. I more than expect her to find someone else after Shepard's passing and I would be happy for her. She would never forget him or her, but maybe (and it depends on the time of her life) - somebody would be better for her at that stage of her life, you know what I mean?

Liara, my love.

Nope, she's gonna lock herself in her room, and stare at pictures of Shepard forever.

Against my better judgement, I've walked into this unholy abyss known as the "Ah Liara WTF" Topic.

The answer(which has likely been answered over the past 19 days) is that yes, she's one of the more creepy companions/love interests in the Mass Effect Universe. EDI has a creepy factor, but not towards shepard - mainly more towards Joker, and that seems to work for him somehow. Morinth has a creepy factor, but her time in the Trilogy is a mere blip compared to the more popularized LI/Companions.

As far as Xilizhra, I have no idea what this person is talking about, and probably never will.

Obviously not. But I would still like her personality/enjoy her friendship arc. I also like Jack, Samara and Miranda (and several other characters who are not romanceable)...but they don't work as LIs for me.

still alot of hate for liara. jealous their LI was not canon.
If you never completed the ME series as Bro-Shep and romance Liara. the whole series will always seem incomplete and ME3 will always be lacking. This will also cause you to hate the ME3.

with liara you get the extra's = longer sex scene; alot of cheesy romantic moments; and shes their with you on all missions. perfect me3
