And what lesson is that?

Choice should matter? Reactivity should exist?

When creating a series where game saves will be checked in future installments to see what choices were made and who lived and who died...perhaps make sure to check if a character is actually dead and modify the experience accordingly?

Ex. Check sees that Lelliana is dead in DA:O, her role replaced by another character in DA2.  It's not that hard.
If Wrex is dead in ME3 we get Wreav instead, if Mordin is dead we get someone else, etc etc.

That's a start but it needs to go beyond simple character and dialogue replacements imo. Not being able to make piece with the Geth if Tali doesn't have the clout of an admiral or if she's dead is a step in a better direction. But maybe whole different missions should open up or close depending on the choices made. Maybe different enemies could be fought. Something with tangible gameplaay differences could really sell players on choices mattering in this and their other "RPG" series.

I agree. I also like what they did with the genophage arc, too Got Wreav. The Krogan will never know a sabotage took place cause Wreav is a moron.

Actually, no. The issue is far more complicated than that.

In any case, 'paying attention' has utterly nothing to do with it. You think that was in DA 2 because the developers just forgot about it?

I heard their excuses. They will claim the holy place saved her, ashes etc. Perhaps she will be Andraste or some such nonsense.

Or ditch the gimmicky save import mechanic and have choices matter within the game they're made in and no grand scale choices.

Bioware has proven they can't handle continuity even without taking account a save import mechanic(ex. "ah yes reapers" and Cerb sith empire).

Also not a bad idea. A great idea. I think this is why The Walking Dead worked so well. Telltale could focus all their efforts on a particular story without worrying about continuity down the line.

Have you even played DA2?

That would actually make imports work much more smoothly, assuming that a new series uses the same protagonist rather than a different one for each game.

Are some people actually arguing that the asar shouldn't be punished in some way? I'm not entirely certain but I think that's the gist of some of the discussion going on here, and it's madness plain and simple.

Obviously not the entire species, because even though the quarians as a whole were punished, it wasn't the asari as a whole that punished them, it was more or less the same matriarchs who've been hiding a beacon all this time.

Question: what if everyone responsible is already dead?

Punished in what way? But yes, the events of ME3 show that the asari are not well-meaning enough to be given this much power and influence without oversight, and I can see them losing power after the war (by bringing more species into the council, and maybe independent prothean beacon inspectors).

The Asari were never "given" power. They've got power because they're rich and have lots of dreadnoughts. Well, and they were there first.

Adding lesser powers to the council is most likely to make the council an irrelevence. Because great powers won't allow themselves to be dictated to by the weak.

You can make peace without Admiral Tali.

The Asari should be made to follow their own laws by giving up those beacons and there should be others appointed to crack the secrets to be shared by those who join the community and do not pose a threat. Yes there should be other species on the council. Why? Because you can't claim something is a community then proclaim yourself dictator of it.
