I'm not too surprised based on the connection between DS1 & DS2, but it hardly blew me away.

Lol, that woman was literally the only NPC in the entire game I hadn't exhausted all dialog options with, I must have been one away. I talked to her on my initial run through Heide's but must not have went all of the way. Or I would have seen her there on my 4 or so passes through lol. I love the obscure secrets the game has, I thought the hidden and optional areas of Ash Lake and even the Painted World and the return to Undead Asylum in the first was really cool. But yeah, for level progression, a knight shouldn't have to discuss things with a cleric vendor, even in Dark Souls games. It's just dumb for the main quest. I believe the layout of the world in this game isn't really that good, despite the art and areas themselves being great. I know that is beating a dead horse but I just now fully realized how good it was in Dark Souls. I hope From Software takes the feedback. It also is more then just flow, but then level vs enemies is tossed away. I torched the Skeleton Kings my first time through, with the pinwheels, my fourth boss now I beat on my first go. The Last Giant, Dragonrider and the Sentry in No Man's Wharf being the others. Pretty disappointing, but I think another facet of overall world design.

Still having a huge amount of fun. I also beat the Executioner's Chariot and then killed the fourth rude NPC who wouldn't talk to me at all. I saw that graves appear to talk to them again, like with the Scorpion guy in Shaded Woods.

I also kind of miss the feeling of being stranded places. Lol, remember the days of being stuck in Blighttown? No you can just leave and come back at your leisure, messing with immersion.

Still a great game, but hoping they can revert those things back to how it was in the original. I love a lot of the other changes and improvements, though.

Yeah, I noticed this as well. To be fair, DS1 had this a couple times with cases like Gaping Dragon, but not nearly to the same extent. I would've welcomed a healthier challenge. Could be I'm desensitized after playing the first, but it's hard to tell.

Gnome Warlocks are a blight on this land and must be cleansed :|

I also find it hard to remember which places link to where. Not as hard in Marjula, but the rest of it is more difficult to remember. Didn't miss the stranded at first as it's definitely saving me time, but it does come at a cost.

Yeah, the large club is quite over-powered if you ask me especially since it crushes most enemies, giving them no time to recover. You effectively force them into something worst than a stun-lock since they have an inability to do anything as they lie on the ground. The only con is that the first 2-handed strong attack of the weapon also damages it greatly but I've seriously yet to find any weapon better. The second strong 2-handed attack for the weapon is brilliant also because it's an 360 radius attack where the final swoop will also send enemies flying including some bigger enemies (i.e the gargoyle creatures you encounter in that dungeon just before fighting the Lost Sinner).

I've dealt with the con by dual wielding a mace in my left hand which I use upon what I like to call the "cannon fodder" enemies. Anything larger, or when I'm in danger, I use the large club to deliver an ass whooping of Biblical proportions. As a result I minimize the damage the large club suffers and it hardly ever reaches breaking point now. I will not lie, when I first discovered the crushing stun-lock you could put enemies into with the weapon, I was literally giggling like a small child whilst performing it.

Oh and I just saw how armor actually changes in appearance when it becomes broken. I like that touch and it actually serves a use in PVP too, to establish that your foe's defenses are gone. Although I only ever had my armor broke once, and that's when I destroyed some vases that spilled equipment breaking substance.

Royal Guardsman spam before Veldstadt boss fight? CRUSHING STUNLOCK.

Still, dat sweep is pretty good too.

I might have to start trying out Halberds, when I first used them they seemed a bit tricky, so it might be cool. I was a pretty big fan of 1h axes in DkS1 but it does get a bit old of you play like that for too long.

Favorite Boss: Royal Rat Vanguard for sheer fun factor. It was like poison whack-a-mole mixed with Where's Waldo. Nods to both the Demon of Song and Looking Glass Knight for nifty designs.

Favorite Area: Aldia's Keep. Short but sweet. My least favorite was by far Blighttown 2 and the area following it. Thankfully that was even shorter.

Favorite Weapon: Weapons are for suckers. Or, you know, people who have the stats to use them. Staff of Amana, I guess. I'm too stupid for the staff of wisdom. I just used a Magic Mace +10 if I was forced into melee. Favorite spell? Great Heavy Soul Arrow all the way. There aren't enough Soul Spears, but I love them too.

Favorite NPC; Benhart of Jugo. I am fully behind DkS3: Let's Listen to Benhart Talk.

Favorite non-boss monster: Baby Smoughs! I also liked the "Floormasters" in Black Gulch and the horse knights on the path to Looking Glass Knight.

Favorite Armor: ...none of it. I'm bitter. I dunno, Vengarl's set, maybe? I only ever used my starting equipment, the Grave Warden top and then Vengarl's for the rest of the game. I did see a player's phantom wearing

Spoiler

Favorite Moment: Walking into Heide's Tower of Flame and being smacked upside the head with Anor Londo-ish-ness. Walking into the Cathedral of Blue was overkill. Oh, and running up and bonking that caster in the Dragon Shrine in the head.

1. Favorite Boss?

Old Dragon Slayer, for the nostalgia.

2. Favorite Dungeon/Area?

Dragon Aerie. I love the view.

3. Favorite Weapon?

I've been using a Greatsword since I found it in No-Man's Wharf. And pyromancy. Love my fire.

4. Favorite Character/NPC?

Rosabeth of Melfia, the petrified lady that upgrades your pyromancy flame.

5. Favorite Enemy(Non-Boss)?

Grave Wardens, from Earthen Peak.

6. Favorite Armor?

Throne Defender set with the Black Hood or Havels set.

7. Favorite Moment in the Game Overall?

Fighting my way through the Dragon Shrine and meeting the Ancient Dragon.

Made a lot of progress. Through to Iron Keep, thoroughly looting everything and finding some secrets, defeated the Executioner's Chariot, Skeleton Lords in one try, Covetous Demon in one try, the medusa looking boss in poison...pretty tough and heard later you can fight on concrete actually...then through to Smelter Demon...pretty challenging...and then to the Old Iron King. That dumb lava put near the entrance lol.

I went and thoroughly explored Drangleic Castle, destroyed the Dragonriders easily and then beat the Looking Glass Knight on my second try, pretty fun fight. Through to the Shrine of Amana...that was tough, had to resort to how and arrows a lot...and just now entered Undead Crypt.

My current gear is Vengral's Armor Set +2, except the main armor piece at +4, Raw Zweihander +10, Electric Ultra Greatsword +7, Mastadon Halberd +10, and a Magic Pursuer's Greatshield +2.

Some of the bosses are very easy, and that has been disappointing. Or maybe now that I am a Dark Souls vet with experience leveling and improving gear.

I have 46600 souls I'm about to spend, and 11 boss souls in my inventory. I'm contemplating using them all right now and dumbing them all into stamina and vigor, but I don't really want to level any higher. I'm currently 114

I'm already getting sad I have the majority of the game behind me. I hope beyond hope they make a Dark Souls III, hopefully it's selling very well. I am going to have to definitely play Lords of the Fallen on very hard. To kind of hold me over for a next game.

7. Favorite Moment in the Game Overall?

Fighting my way through the Dragon Shrine and meeting killing the Ancient Dragon.

Fix'd. And with that I've fought and killed every boss in Dark Souls 2. Now I can move on to NG+ and not feel like I've left something undone.

I'll probably give the Darklurker a whirl with my next (non NG+) playthrough. My current build is not up to the task of getting through the three Dark Chasms of Old. Or it could just be that I panic. That could be it. The thought of wasting effigies does it, I think.

The first one I went in, I saw a very recognizable phantom and went NOPE. Can't deal with that in a place where you can roll into the abyss and die. I need a giant arena for everything. ;)

I could always use a soul vessel, but I like my girl as she is. Plus, changing to a totally different style of play that late in the game can only lead to tears.

I threw lightning at everything in the chasms and spammed Darklurker with pyromancy. Just remember to light the fires while you're in there. I wasted a few effigies because I didn't know you were supposed to do that.

I assume if you die fighting the Darklurker you have to go through the last chasm again, right?

I tried the other two locations and had no problems at all, but the one in Drangleic... ick.

I'll get 'em. But not tonight, as the power already went out once here while I was playing. (Giant snowstorm. Happy Spring!)

Yes, but that's why I prefer saving the Drangleic chasm for last. It has fewer enemies and it's right next to a bonfire so getting back to Darklurker isn't as tedious. You just have to get past Havel.

I went through the Undead Crypt and beat the boss. It looks like his soul is a Dark Soul, as it is black in my inventory and he was a close pal with Vendrick. King Vendrick...as he is called. I am in the area with the ancient dragon statue that comes to life, as shown in the gameplay reveal.

Here is what I gathered sofar in relation to story, and I have been avoiding EpicNameBro for his analysis until I am done. It's still vague, but I can make some safe assumptions. Talking to npcs, I have gathered that Drangleic was built upon Lordran, as Lordran the kingdom is long gone, in a long line of kingdoms that have risen and fallen. That is the real curse, as told. The fire keepers, the old hags in the beginning of the game, are in hiding and Drangleic exists now way, way, way after, built upon the Four Great Souls by King Vendrick...as he is called. The great souls being that of Nito, The Witch of Izalith, Seath the Scaleless and of course Gwyn...his souls was split and given to the four kings. Mention of the Undead One is there, aka the Pygmy, and so is very distinctfully the mention of how Drangleic will not be the last kingdom, either. Cough.

I truly believe from what I heard...and this is a 100% honest guess...is that either Vendrick is the Pygmy, or what I truly believe, that the King is OUR Dark Souls character from the original. It would also fall in line with the Dark Lord ending.

Dark Souls doesn't have a great cookie cutter story, but the lore is fascinating. I heard the girls in Amana say the name Milfanito....I remember that name mentioned in the original. If he isn't the last boss in the game, The Pygmy, so easily forgotten, needs to be the final boss in the next game, or the next game, or whenever they put an end to the series.

The vague story and lore is terrific, I think it fits the game and IP brilliantly and ads that mystique.

The REAL curse is the continuity of existence, and to simply exist as to not existing.

When you beat the final boss, make sure you craft the soul weapon and read the description :). I didn't notice that one until later but yeah... it's interesting.
