So, I got my favorite armor from DS1
Hang on, I have to go flip some tables.
( I also can't help because I don't use that many weapons.)
The one little quibble I have with this game is that it seems to cater to the melee/tank more than the squishy caster. The boss soul weapons? My character could use ZERO of them at endgame because most of her points went into attunement and intelligence. There are spells you can trade souls for - two spells in your initial playthrough. 24 weapons. No staves. No chimes either I don't think, at least I can't recall one, but I don't use 'em anyway.
Again, small quibble. I'm quite content with my gear.

So, I got my favorite armor from DS1 and probably the best in the game, Havel's armor, a few days ago and now I'm looking for a better greatsword. At the moment I'm using the Drangleic Sword, which weapon do you think is the best?
Depends on your build. A lighning infused, Throne Defender greatsword is great for a faith build. The Mastadon greatsword gets A scaling with strength. The Black Knight greatsword comes with fire damage, but you need 12 intelligence and faith.

There's the Chime of Want, but no staves.

Lore: Heide's Tower of Flame. They also made a Nifty Trailer.
When you beat the final boss, make sure you craft the soul weapon and read the description
. I didn't notice that one until later but yeah... it's interesting.

This game literally cheated me on Darklurker.
Almost went full King Kong on my controller, I don't think I've ever been so pissed on a Souls game.

Dead as a doorknob. Forever.
I then went to the one behind the King's Door and fought the Giant Lord, who one shotted me as soon as the fight started. Lol. Got him try two, and it was tough, got his soul and a new key.
The key made reference to Drangleic Castle, and so I explored that a lot more, and got two uniquely named swords from the ghost merchant and bishop there. I also got a huge variety of unique weapons and spells...make sure to read the item descriptions and talk to him...he is a huge source of story info.
Here I thought I was just about to fight a final boss soon, and now I'm in Drangleic Castle about to open the King's Door I forgot was down there and explore.
I'm going to try and give the Ancient Dragon the petrified egg before the scale...I have zero clue what it does, but I'm gonna try it.

Only time I got mad at this game was when i went to Shrine of Amana. Not necessarily because of the mages, but i just had 16k souls then warped to Drangleic Castle to buy Lightning Arrows and got blockstunned at full stamina by the royal swordsmen. Twice. I got up and punched the wall a couple of times. I think it may have been that i was using the Large Club 2h Heavy as a crutch :/.
Anyway, i'm still messing around in postgame, just farming with ascetics, doing bosses i haven't done and levelling up and trying weapon i haven't used. Considering how much i liked Halberds in DkS1 i'm disappointed that i didn't get to know them sooner. Dat backstab execute
. BK and regular right now, might try Lucerne too.

I love the halberds, too. Great long reaching thrusts with that powerful downward slash with space and the two handed swirl if surrounded. The Mastadon Halberd is my favorite in this game, give it a shot. I think you get it in Doors of Pharros. It's great.

**** yeah, Ancient Dragon and Vendrick down. Now I just have the Darklurker to go. Also did NG+ Lost Sinner without getting hit lol. Then I cheesed Vendrick with a Greatshield ...
The humble Mace is pretty cool too.

But what happened to Vendrick? I liked it, but had no idea this was the end.
The last boss gave me a fun for my money though, I died about 12 times.
I had a feeling if I offer the dragon scale to the corpse of Seath in the room with the Primordial Crystal, where the Duke's Dear Freja was, I could maybe enter The Abyss, based off of the item description. But I had used a bonfire upgrade and Freja respawned and kept one shotting me. Lol.
Loved this game.

Huh, I thought it was pretty obvious what happened to Vendrick - he went the way of King Allant and Lord Gwyn. Have you actually fought him or did you leave him in the Crypt?
Also, given that you're at the endgame, you can already access the crystal in the Freja room. It's got a small surprise.

I'm guessing that Nashandra was holding a Lord Soul during the fight, and she could definitely have been the remanifestation of the Pygmy, or the PC from the original. Or both together, since it is theorized the Pygmy was the PC. Can't wait to learn some more theories.
I started a new playthrough with a Cleric girl with pink hair. Going to buff Faith and Dex, and play with Miracles, Hexes and smaller weapons. I love now my main character Knight turned out...didn't play with the big heavy equipment in Dark Souls.

If you fight him immediately after velstadt he takes quite a bit more damage than if you leave and come back to fight him when the mist door is there. If you leave you basically have to collect the giant souls to do any damage to him. Anybody else notice this? Is it a glitch or was it intended I wonder....

Completely intentional. It says so on the Soul of a Giant item description.
Oh ok yeah I guess I got the ring from his corpse. I didn't fight him, but I found out he is walking around the Crypt then afterwards.

It's explicitly stated that Nashandra is the reincarnation of Manus, although Manus's status as the Pygmy is likely but debatable. I think the current things the player base are trying to sort out are what it was exactly that King Vendrick stole from the Giants to make them want to wage war on Drangleic (most likely the Lordvessel or the Throne of Want), and whether or not there is an alternate ending.

I really hope there is one, I'll be disappointed if we all got shoe horned into one canon ending. Has anyone beat Nashandra on the first try? If I had to take any guess at what would trigger an alternate ending it would be that.
I'm still torn about whether or not I like what they're doing with the lore. On the one hand I like the scope they're adding to the lore, but on the other hand I feel it makes DkS1 lore insignificant.

Nashandra is pretty easy so I imagine a lot of people would have gotten it.

She piggybacks on her buddies the Watcher and Defender, though. I'd used all my good spells by the time I reached her. I wasn't ready.

I beat her first try - I still got the same ending everyone else is talking about; I don't think there is another ending. The ending made me feel extremely claustrophobic. =')

You can avoid having to fight her right after the defender/vigilant if you go and fight them before you progress the story - Go straight to that door opened with the King's Ring the moment you obtain the ring, and you can fight them, then once they're done you'll have nothing to do in that area until you advance in the rest of the story as Nashandra will always have to be the final boss in the story.
I actually did this the first time out of luck - That door was the first thing that popped to my mind after I read that the ring opened doors, so I went there. I was a little lost for a bit after I didn't get to do anything else after that fight but I remembered the other doors later.

Arg. Figures. The King's Gate door was the one I forgot about. Well, it's something for next time I guess.
