Well, the game changes drastically during subsequent playthroughs, so it's basically begging to be played again - So yes, it'll indeed be useful for the next time! Haha.

Oh, and to hop onto the ending thing - I'm also a little disappointed that there was no freedom of choice, however I'm not that disappointed because when you get down to it, both endings in Dark Souls were essentially the same - Either way you were being used/manipulated and a dark age will be set upon the world, either with you continuing the bonfire kindling (which is the canon ending, at least based on the fact that bonfires still exist) and pretty much just letting stuff go exactly the way it did before you did anything (So, a pointless journey, essentially) or by entering the literal Dark Age with the fire now extinct.
So, I don't mind they didn't gave us any other choice - What they gave us before was a blatant illusion of choice anyway, and one of the endings was very clearly set in advantage over the other (Which isn't too bad - If the chosen undead hadn't kindled that bonfire, bonfires would no longer exist, and canonizing that ending would mean a drastic alteration in mechanics for the series), so they might as well just be out with it and say "Yeah this is what happens"

Looking at the evidence, it does look like beyond any doubt Manus was the Pygmy. Interesting. The Pygmy was the primordial human, and Manus was said to be the primordial human. So Nashandra was a remanifestation of the Pygmy.
I love how they expanded on the lore. The land is cursed like we are. It constantly dies and reanimates. The cycle of the rise of flame, no matter how bright, sputters and fades. But the flame eventually reignites, starting anew. All because of the Dark Soul, Pygmy's Lord Soul, which we know Kindles the flames, if Humanity is shards of the Dark Soul.
In the end, it's cool how we can all interpret things differently and nothing will ever probably be concrete.
I must say, though, that they borrowed a little off of Sauron's reanimation.

I don't think it's as bad as some people are making it out to be, but I sure do think it's a sign that they're not rebuilding the game to look like the original reveal.

I just hope they built it already around the PC and had to downgrade only for the console versions.

So I guess that whole "build around the PC" was a bit far fetched? Ha.

My main concern with getting the PC version is just the gameplay translated to a PC, since I played the original two on my PS3. Hopefully it's a smooth transition/I don't feel like getting a controller for my PC.

I swear half my deaths are just me mindlessly falling down pits.

Liked the design in Demon's Souls and the first Dark Souls more. Royal Rat Vanguard was kind of cool though. So was the Executioner's Chariot.

I loved the artwork and design they did for Demon of Song, and the variety was nice. My favorites were The Pursuer, Ruin Sentinels, Old Dragonslayer (epic music and flow of battle), Roaming Magus and Congregation (unique and creepy), The Duke's Dear Freja, The Rotten, Smelter Demon, Looking Glass Knight and Nashandra.

Executioner's Chariot reminded me a bit of the Geryon Boss Fight from Devil May Cry 3. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if The Original Ornstein and Smough fight was based off of this one from the same game.Liked the design in Demon's Souls and the first Dark Souls more. Royal Rat Vanguard was kind of cool though. So was the Executioner's Chariot.
With Heide's Tower, Iron Keep, Drangleic Castle, and a bit of Undead Crypt, it's inevitableI swear half my deaths are just me mindlessly falling down pits.

I bet he didn't even use a single ascetic.
...actually, judging by the damage done, he must have.
That's it. I'm getting that helm tonight.

Go check out The Duke's Dear Freja again with that aesthetic...it's your worst nightmare imaginable
As far as I'm concerned, Freja isn't even the real boss at that point, it's her ****ing little spiderlings. Especially if you don't have a weapon that has a good moveset for clearing them out.

I just noticed something while looking up the voice actors.
Amy Nolan is credited as Shanalotte (Child).
Did I miss something?

The only info I've found is that the Dragon Aerie version of the Emerald Herald is shorter and has a higher pitched voice. She's supposedly the real one while the others you encounter are manifestations sent to guide you.

I never noticed that about Emerald Herald...her voice is indeed different. So she was a product of experimentation just like the Giants were...those labs in Aldia Keep may have been her birthplace.
I think without a doubt the toughest area was Shrine of Amana. I had to use bow and arrows in there, freaking tough. The most annoying enemies were definitely the ones with the droopy hand that jump and flop. Lol, I saw someone post a picture of them a few pages back. I call them "floppers"...so friggin annoying!!!
Just image an area where there are Amana Priestesses, Floppers and Skeleton Wheels together....yikes.

Interesting, I really didn't notice the different in height/pitch between the two. The manifestation theory kinds of sketchy to me as you can pick up the ancient feather off of her from the beginning of the game. I wonder if she shows up at Dragon Aerie if you kill her in Majula... it'd be interesting to test.
Shrine of Amana was the worst. Felicia the Brave's back must have hurt after we got through with it because she pretty much carried me. I think she's up there with Tarkus as far as most useful summons go.

You must have gotten her on one of her good days, as she stunk it up for me. Just outside the room you get her in, there's a slightly raised stone platform in the water that you can only get on from one side, and she'd constantly get stuck there. If she managed to get past that, she'd charge after two mages and get butchered trying to roll under their spells.
I loathed the Shrine of Amana as well... until I returned with binoculars. Two can play at the Absurdly Long-Range Homing Spell game.
On the subject of NPC summons, I don't think any of them were that helpful for me. Lucatiel died instantly for every boss I summoned her for. (Has she survived the Smelter Demon for anyone?) Grave Warden Agdayne was good I s'pose, he got Velstadt to ignore me as I soul speared him.
I must have missed a lot of NPC summons, I only had Benhart of Jugo for the final bosses, I never saw his sign anywhere else that I can recall.
...and apparently you can be summoned by the Looking Glass Knight? You have to use the red sign soapstone nearby. That's neat.

So it looks like the Enchanted and Magic upgrade paths got reversed in Dark Souls 2 (ie, now Enchanted is the useless one).
On another note, Crystal Magic Weapon + Blue Flame = much happiness. Sure, I'd probably do more damage with a Staff of Wisdom but that isn't as badass.
