So two more days till DkS2 DLC.
Anyone getting it? I still haven't decided.
Pre-ordered it the day it was announced. DS 1 DLC was good. See no reason why this this one shouldn't be. I don't expect anything like Artorias DLC where it sends you fight a boss from the get go, but hopefully it will be good. Just one more day.

ok. made this bad boy
in 15h22m.
Oddly enough, but this new character is more battle ready than my former SL420 main. DLC should be deployed in 2-4 hours i believe, i hope From Software will deliver some quality DLC.

I'm totally use to Maces now. Using swords in this game is so weird for me! For other occasions I use my enforced Pike. I have a better pike, but lack the titanite shards (wasted some of them on failure weapons) to upgrade it.

First Review. Takes about 4 hours, apparently. Throws in puzzles to a greater degree than previous souls stuff.

It's like Blighttown, but doesn't look like a complete hellhole. XD"Confusing level layout" Oh boy, this is gonna be fun...
GameFront popped out a blind playthrough for the first 22 minutes. It kinda reminds me of Sunken Temple from World of Warcraft, but the size and scope are much larger.

I'm totally use to Maces now.
because most of enemies have armor, so 'strike' weapon is always a better choice.
but i have GWC in my backpack, so no worries.

Well, just completed it. Pretty short indeed. I think if you don't care about exploring every corner or just speedrun you can finish it in 2 hours or so. Level design was nice and filled with many paths, most common enemies were boring, bosses were fun although they felt recycled. Bonfire placement was frustrating the further I got since when I died I had to go back some distance and do platforming again. The loot wasn't anything special, really. I'd give it a 6/10

level design is nice, feels like a giant puzzle box.
mobs are eh...
bosses are eh...
i mean - 3 guys are fun, but they are too easy. kill the archer, kill kanata girl, kill havel through parrying.
Queen was fun, but 50% of her hp is going down during her speech, not to mention it is Nashandra remake, skeletons and Royal Aegis as adds... yeah.. not very fun. Killed her by attacking in between Aegis attacks, like 1-2 strikes per swing.
Dragon itself... well he is not a Kalameet, and as result battle is not very intense. I saw that his tail is taking damage, gonna make NG+ run to this location... want his tail.

2 armor sets.
Green one, like fused with poison. as a drop from the mobs with two sabers.
And medium armor set with a sword and i guess shield, but i can't find the shield yet.
a skirt.
Two souls for Ornifex: An Axe and the Spear i believe.
hold on i will upload them

I'm still hoping for my beloved Ornstein armor to return. Sucks that we got the useless spear, but not his armor.

btw i am missing first bonfire on the second location. i believe it's somehow related to the corpse hanging down from the stonework, but i have no idea how to open the door.
puzzle stone sword is rather tricky to find, but if the place a button somewhere on the ceiling again...
edit. found it :S From Software love their walls and ceilings.

I mostly agree. Afflicted seems like a glorified Phantom battle. I think the queen had a nice new moveset(Shaodw AoE, more focus on ranged attack), but it isn't a huge stretch from its predecessor.i mean - 3 guys are fun, but they are too easy. kill the archer, kill kanata girl, kill havel through parrying.

The Slumbering Dragon seems like "Diet Kalameet".

what is also sad. If you summon phantoms and players for help - encounter becomes very hard. this somekind of artificial difficulty is annoying really.
if i have 2 phantoms with me, and i parry a Havel guy, finisher move with Mytha's blade deals very low damage, same for backstab really. However when i solo them, even with a claymore on a finisher move i deliver 1300 and 700 on backstab.

Good...god, what have they done to faith builds?! GS, GLS and SLS damage cut in half, casts cut in three! Blinding Bolt even worse than before! Defender Greatsword nerfed to hell! Are From on drugs? They just nerfed their most iconic and used class in the ground...
And what's this?

yeah i saw all that as well. i don't have dark spells users - because its boring, but i had a cleric with DGS and full arsenal of miracles.
but what actually made me sad - in the dlc you may find consumable items, bugs, like deal more damage, receive less. Well point is, that one of the most fun bosses in the game Belfry Gargoyle now worthless. Point is that yo either damage each of them to a limit where you can dispatch them with 1-2 strike or you kill one of the gargoyles as fast you can. This prevents other mobs in line from spawning. So combat is rather fun if you melee it. You need patience, awareness.
Now with these item 'brightbug' you can steamroll this boss like there is no tomorrow. Two strikes for a gargoyle?
Game is not that hard, why they make it so easy to play? I am pretty sure even Royal Aegs will be steamrolled with this brightbug, and Velstadt is not that challenging.

Yeah, that's pretty damned bad. Even with a stronger build, I wouldn't call that a satisfying and balanced difficulty. Now with these item 'brightbug' you can steamroll this boss like there is no tomorrow. Two strikes for a gargoyle?
The difficulty floor is high, but the difficulty ceiling is even higher. Be creative. Try playing the game naked using just a shield, while listening to 1980's Montage music. Good luck.Game is not that hard, why they make it so easy to play?
In other Souls-y news, the Dark Souls director wants to make a warm, fuzzy game.

Try playing the game naked using just a shield
but this is artificial difficulty.
you see i made a SL1 pyromancer run with default arsenal in DS1, but... it is some sort of fun i guess, however when design of levels, encounters and bosses are poorly made, you will steamroll game's content no matter how handicaped you are.
As another example about bad design choices, there is a f2p game - warframe, this game is a prime example of poor mechanics and bad game design. From top to buttom. This is when setting of the game is nice, possible lore is interesting, art is awesome, some decisions are well thought out, but all of it goes to the swamp, simply because core of the game is poorly made and for pve game its lacking actual pve content.
The very same situation we may face with DAI, when everything is fine, except for 1-2 poor game design decisions which will ruin entire experience with the game.
Player must not make up for himself some challenges or difficulties. Challenge, difficulty must be designed by a game developer to keep player engaged, to make player learn how play the game, to make player think about what he is gonna do next. Mechanics of the game, encounters design, lore aspect, plot must come first if we are talking about RPG or PVE games in general.
And in these aspects DkS2 is rather sad, in comparison to DmS and DkS1.

I managed to get all new items the dlc had to offer that I know of, the Sanctum Knight set, Drake set, Drake sword, Sanctum mace, crossbow and shield, soldier's manchettes, flower skirt, puzzle sword, crown and priestess' tiara. I'm not sure if you can get the lance a few of them wield.
Oddly enough, I got two puzzle swords, because one of the afflicted dropped a second one, I'm not sure if that's supposed to happen.
