Dark Souls Cafe now open in Tokyo because why the hell not

I saw that, how bizarre :P I wonder if anyone brought marshmallows for the bonfire.

They're easy to read, provided you have them both onscreen at once. Once you lose sight of one of them, he's actually right behind you getting ready to impale or crush you. And in case you don't know - concentrate on one of them and completely ignore the other. Most folks kill Ornie first, he's the greater threat.

Yeah. You can get away with a little time if one's far away, but both can gain proximity very closely. Ornstein has his Halo-Sword-Trick attack where he lunges at you from any distance, and Smough has the incredibly annoying battering ram attack, which he absolutely loves to spam. My advice, find a pillar if he does that to break it off. I'd never beaten Smough first, but I've seen what happens with Ornstein if you do, and I'd rather avoid that entirely. :|

Still pumped for the sequel. It likely won't have the same effect the original did on me, but that doesn't mean it's going to lack in Badassery and entertainment value anyways. I can tell from the demos/previews and such that a lot under the hood has made it a great deal more balanced.

Super Ornstein was manageable once I used a certain method.

Taking out Smough while hiding behind a pillar and spamming lightning bolts (or you could just take him out like you normally do) and standing between Super Ornstein's legs at all times while horizontal attack spamming worked nicely.

I buffed myself considerably before this fight so results may vary. It might take longer from a lower-levelled/geared player.

All my fears of the sequel are gone. Especially after seeing the beta videos and some veteran's reviews of what they played affirming that is still retains the formula of DkS in both gameplay and challenge. My only gripe is the awful running animation which I pray was a place-holder for the beta.

Part of me wishes for a larger modding community supported by the Devs. New monsters and bosses could be created. I'd love to fight a super-charged Sauron.

Probably not possible right now.

Dark Souls 2 Curse Trailer

I don't know why it's Rated T though.

I never considered anything in Dark Souls exceptionally violent or scary, not even in Blighttown. Maybe New Londo Ruins.

Smough's manboobs = M rating

According to the back of the Dark Souls box, it was given an M rating due to "Blood and gore", "Partial nudity" and "violence." Dark Souls 2 has all that, plus it throws in "mild language."

I don't get it either, I don't really care, but I don't get it.

Dark Souls 2 Curse Trailer

I'm definitely digging it. Some of the enemy design almost reminds me of Silent Hill(which gets my thumbs up), looks good to me. Also, giant hippo boss? :o

Most of the enemies hardly bled in the first place(either being undead or too massive to notice the blood anyhow), and gore was possibly the dragon tails. Partial nudity might be chocked up to Quelaag, but it was no more nude than The Adult Princess Ruto. As far as I could tell, FromSoftware didn't even bother animating nipples, so there's nothing to see. I also can't recall a swear in my playthrough.

There was gore? Aside from the Hydra miniboss/Dragon tails? Personally, I think a parent should look more into a game beyond a simple letter rating (the description would be a good start), considering that we have Arkham Asylum and Uncharted running around with T ratings.

I liked the trailer but I think I would be more impressed without learning the monster designs beforehand. I might stop watching Dark Souls 2 videos so I run the actual game blind.

Dark Souls had a lot of blood. Riposte or backstab any undead enemy (or enemy player) and you'll see. There were also the many gruesome deaths the player could suffer (being riposted by enemies including players as well as back stabbed or simply munched to death by a mimic or other enemy). The player would also bleed when hit. ****** were actually animated on Quelaag's sister (although they were only noticeable during her death animation). The grotesque and monstrous designs of some enemies set up the game as a horror in the eyes of any reviewer. The M rating was correct.

If Dark Arisen could move Dragon's Dogma from a 12+ rating to an 18+ rating for it uses of more horrific monsters and gore then Dark Souls certainly deserved its M rating.

And come on, the Tomb of Giants is more scarier than any horror game.

It's still kind of arbitrary. The violence itself is not worse than anything you'd see in a LotR/Hobbit movie. Heck, check the above games I mentioned before. It even has the option to disable blood (then again, so does Gears of War). Quelaag and her sister aren't the slightest bit realistic.

And nothing will scare me as much as the redeads or the shadow hand things in Ocarina of Time did.

I also don't think a 16 and 13 year old would be in the same group.

Favorited the video. That's damn catchy.
If there's anything overly mature about Dark Souls, it's the depressing themes of insanity, death and isolation.
And probably these guys.

Just accessed the DLC. Man, the Sanctuary Guardian can wreck stuff up. More aggressive than any boss I've fought.

As to the pics above, that giant mount rider looks amazing. I wonder if it will count as two separate enemies, where the giant will frenzy if you kill its master.

I had a much harder time fighting him than Artorias, though Manus was a pain in the butt... though for the wrong reasons. Sanctuary Guardian requires a great deal more reflex, and the only 2 opportunities you'll get to hack at him is after his 4-hit combo or after he does the Sonic Boom thing with his wings.

I'd like that. It has a very Lord of the Rings or God of War vibe to it. My body is ready.

Speaking of those two series, I'd love to see some Wargs (or giant wolf creatures) and Greek-inspired monsters (IE Taurus demon).

Wait? A proper manly beard on an NPC?

OH GOD YES.

And look at this guy:

Look at that eye (it's stiched up...) and the hair. I'm hoping we can get this level of customization for our character.

"Care to join our flock, Arisen?"

Judging by the first and third screens I posted, it looks like there's cutscenes for characters too this time.

There's something strange about the graphics though. The graphics looked better in that 12 minute 2012 gameplay video. Here the graphics looked scaled down. Then again it was the same with Dark Souls where you had some areas that looked good and others which didn't.

Maybe I can finally put on some zombie pirate cosplay in Dark Souls 2 with a beard. On the topic of customization, will the Jubilant Catarina become less of a minstrel show?
