Anyway, I like to focus on Smough first, since he's slower. Once one of them get's bigger, whichever you choose (by the way, defeating a certain one gives you their armor for later to buy), just focus on staying under their legs and blocking. I'm assuming you aren't a dex build? That's what I personally use, love it.

Nah, I'm using a knight, with as much heavy gear as I can. It uh.. takes a long time to walk places.

The "fat roll" is kinda hilarous, though. Crunch.

I don't know much about Dark Souls but picturing this makes me laugh. LOL.

Yeah, I can almost hear him having a coronary as he struggles up a set of stairs.

Do you have Havel's ring?

I was a fragile pyromancer, I honestly can't see how people can play as a lumbering tank. Power to ya, I can't do it.

Can you wear Havel's set? I think that's in Anor Londo... wow, it's been too long. You'd probably need his ring though.

I usually off Ornstein first because Solaire doesn't really give me a choice. Ornie's weak to fire, from what I remember, and I had a beefed up Quelaag's Furysword. That and a bunch of fireballs did the trick.

No, but that sounds useful. So that's Havel, huh? He's slaughtered me multiple times, just for accidently entering his area.

Pretty sure having someone to divert half their attacks is a pretty big "help". The difficulty of Smough and Ornstein is entirely from their combo attacks.

He's real easy once you get the hand of him, don't block his attack, but wait for him to do his heavy attack and backstab him if you can.

Of course Soltaire can divert them, but he usually dead for the second phase of the battle because of one of them will having steroid, especially Smough who will fully healed and have double health (4000+ in vanilla), also unblockable attacks

There are blockable attacks, if I remember correctly.

Also anyway, this should be in another thread though - knowing "off topic" bans lately.

Okay, beginning the long trek out of Anor Londo to kill Havel. His arse is grass.

By which point the fight is exceptionally easy, Smough especially just given how slow he moves. Literally every time he performs his leap attack is a free chance for damage.

I use the pillars as a road block between his giant hammer and my frail figure. As Il Divo mentioned, let him slam the hammer in a downward thrust, than slap him with your sword a few times. Run away right after, repeat, and that's it.

You use pillars? he destroy pillars as far as i remember...

Yes he does - frequently and violently. Fortunately, the stumps of the pillars themselves still remain and make for a great line of defense. Were it not for that fact, I may have very well ragequitted the game due to that fight.

Anyways:

Any release date for PC yet or no?

Going off of this article, it will be as soon as March 25th 2014. To be honest, I'd rather get the PS3 version. As tempting as it is to do a let's play of the game, I don't think I can wait that long for the PC equivalent.

Decided to prove myself if I could be capable enough to defeat this beast of a game, so I naturally bought Dark Souls a few weeks ago.

Been a pretty great ride so far. Certainly, my death toll is sky high, but I haven't needed to divert from my current path and managed to defeat every boss so far without any guides from the internet (OK that is a lie, I viewed one on the Hellkite Dragon). I have rang the bell in the Undead Parish section and am currently on the path of Darkroot Garden. Not sure if there is a proper route to follow or if the section changes depending on ones level, but eh, have survived thus far without any real problems.

I was originally going to get it on the PS3, as I have the last two for my PS3, but my friend is now able to run it on his PC, so we went to PC.

I've been stuck on Kalameet with my faith build. My Divine Claymore has been useless thanks to the magic resistance. Resorting to my L. Zweihander has made me much slower. I'm all ears for tips...

Solaire doesn't help? What? I only found him useless in the Gaping Dragon boss fight. For S&O he actually is a good distraction and can stand his ground against either Smough or Ornstein in their first phrase. He can actually take on the bell gargoyles occasionally alone and is pretty useful against Lord Gwyn at the end. He's redundant against the Centipede. I found that he neither helps or negatively impacts there.

@LegendaryAvenger

Summon for help I guess? Or go build a pure Zweihander. Divine and magic Zweihanders will be weak against Kalameet and I find divine weapons to very weak. As my tank build I beat him without dying first go. I found the great shield of Artorias was a good defense against his attacks IIRC. Not to mention if you get under his legs, you can sometimes get him to repeat the same standing attack which is easily avoidable and you can keep hitting him during it. I have no formal tactic against him. I found going in like crazy with tons of health and defense is the best tactic against both him and Manus (who has yet to kill any of my characters). My dexterity warrior (who I have since deleted because she was garbage) was owned several times over by Kalameet. I found defeating him is all about having good amounts of defense and offense unless you're a pro and have memorized all of Kalameet's attacks and can dodge them (which even as my heavy build I found I had to do so there was a lot of fat rolling going on).

I've built a new class who wields a Zweihander but wears light armor so he's a medium build. I have forgone a shield as this class in favor of rolling and parrying with a dagger. It's made for interesting gameplay as this build does more damage than my tank character (who uses a Black Knight Claymore) but obviously has less defense and can only block with the Zweihander. Surprisingly this build is amazing against many bosses. I was actually able to stun-lock and stagger Smough. I do find that this build is more about planning when to attack though in other instances because he hasn't got the same poise and defense as my tank build. He is inclined to some sorcery and miracles though so that provides him with a few tricks.

I'm very anxious to see how he goes up against Kalameet. Artorias will be no problem since he can be stunned (which my tank was able to do with the Black Knight Claymore).

I just love how the different and more unique builds can actually change how the entire game is played.

Currently taking a listen. Most of it's the normal gist that's been covered, but it was interesting to hear about the loss of maximum HP based on how far hollow you go, at most of 50% reduction. Talking about the sin thing, Human Effigies, and other tidbits. I'll edit this as it goes on.

I'm sure they looked at Kingdom Under Fire 2, saw that armor and were inspired by it. Surely. It looks badass either way. Shame they ruined the game and turned it into a crappy generic MMO.
