Some of the changes have me a bit reluctant, via the video. I have to agree with Matt Lees that having bonfires fully teleport from the beginning removes the feeling of perseverance and a bit of immersion. I didn't mind that after O&S mostly since that was the hardest part of the game XD

I dunno.

First 20 deaths of Dark Souls 2

Something that caught my eye in this article was this:

As I experience some difficulty getting past this stone man, I'm told that certain enemies will only respawn near each bonfire a certain number of times, which the PR rep estimates to be about 15. However, you'll need to actually kill them rather than simply respawn at the bonfire for this counter to increase. The developers made this change to stop you from grinding; with no enemies to gather souls from to then spend on levelling up, you are eventually forced to venture into dangerous, unknown territory. This also makes repeated runs to a boss encounter less frustrating.

That's an awesome feature.

One thing I'm looking forward to is how accessible the Covenants are this time around. Meaning there will be a lot more MP action. Becoming a Bloodbro seems a lot easier than a Darkwraith.

The way From Software handled the multiplayer in Dark Souls was really a let down from Demon Souls. As long as you can start (or close to the start) the game with being able to help/invade/leave hints I'll be happy with the game. If we have to wait until X part of the story/progression before we can do any of that then I'll likely only have a few playthroughs.

Is it really so terrible though? You can help/leave hints maybe within 45 minutes of starting the game.

Well invading was pretty difficult to figure out in dark souls and it took quite a while to get the white co-op stone. You could post messages quite early on though.

There was still a limitation to how much you could interact with other players in Dark Souls, of course that was mostly because most people played the game as a hollow. At most we should get some minor benefits to joining the helpful covenant or the invading covenant not just gain the ability to help/invade other players.

I like the fact that they hurt our ability to farm for souls, it'll make it slightly, slightly harder to level up. I never passed up a good soul farming route, and I discovered several in Dark Souls. I wonder if odd-ball random high level baddies vanish permanently again

Thankfully it seems a lot less clunky than the previous one.

Weapons have been leaked and Dark Souls 2 includes a double edged blade the likes of which I have not seen in an RPG since Neverwinter Nights!

Although the second screen is simply showing a few of the new weapons and is clearly not the complete list. It looks like there's more exotic weapons from whips to scythes.

Hmm, slightly worried about this teen rating we're getting.

I get that Dark Souls isn't quite as gratuitously violent/sexual/vulgar as a lot of other M titles, but there's just something about a T-rating for this series that seems very off.

It's hard for me to place since everything else I've seen about the game screams that it will be amazing, but we'll see.

I actually had a conversation with a friend about how I could have seen games like Demon's Souls and Dark Souls getting a T rating, and how it seems like nothing gets a T rating anymore before Dark Souls 2 was rated. The Souls games in general tend to have creepier and more terrifying moments than a lot of rated M games, but its never really had too much excessive blood, gore, language, etc. that really needs to make the game rated M.

Meh I don't really care the rating system is completely messed up anyways. Some games get 18 when they should be 12 and some games get 12 when they should be 18.

I heard that backstabs and parries don't cause blood geysers anymore. Not a really problem since half of the enemies in the first game didn't even "bleed".

To much fanfare, the Main Title Screen has been leaked. I'm not sure what to say, really.

Yeah, part of why I wasn't as bugged about the T rating.
