LMAO

Hockey. Football. Water Polo. Those are sports. Button mashing, although intensive and occasionally stressful, does not constitute a sport.

Is boxing with Wii Sports considered a sport then?

Using that logic, shadowboxing in your room is sport too. So no.

As Wii boxing fails to encompass the definition which stipulates sports as an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, it would still be a, "No."

Wii boxing is basically a wrist flick. No skill involved. As to shadow boxing, what skill? No one sees you do it. Or if they do, they pretend not too or laugh. So, still. No.

Keep trying though. Image IPB

The closest sport-like gaming activity I've done is probably playing GT Academy 2012 and 2013 (aka the Gran Turismo 6 Demo) for hours everyday on a racing wheel.

Wrestling the wheel was really a workout and I couldn't do it without air conditioning.

I tried to come up with a definition of "sport" a while ago, and what I ended up with was "anything people will pay to watch." I've never paid to watch gaming myself, but I'd be surprised if it never happens.

Korea.

Well, if so...

Playing a guitar is a sport? I thought that was banjos and only if they were dueling?

The more you know! :wizard:

Nope, gaming, chess, poker more like competitive events/hobbies , sports tend to have a physical aspect to them.

No, but I always equated the likes of Nascar as a video game that is a physical risk.

Ernest Hemingway said it very well: "There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering. All the rest are merely games."

It looks easy but motorsport is probably one of the most physically demanding sports.

I can't even imagine what it takes to be strapped in wearing firesuit and helmet while experiecing excessive heat, intense lateral Gs and high noise levels for hours without losing concentration.

I have done some simple autocross and 1/4 mile drag racing in my own cars, but they are nothing in comparison to a real motorsport like NASCAR, WRC, or Formula One.

lol considering you can stuff yourself with (insert junk food of choice) while you game while chugging down your favorite beverage, gaming is anything but a sport.
