3.) "You can't predict how people will act, Garrus. But you can control how you'll respond. In the end, that's what really matters."
- Shepard.
Not sure I entirely agree with the first sentence, but that's beside the point. In the end, you're responsible for (and only for) your own actions. Keep a level-head. Don't let others control you. Don't try to control others. This is very true.
2.) "I'm not really a by-the-book kind of guy, and I ****** people off. My family has been military since the Unification War. War is my life. It's in my bones. But that kind of passion is... deceptive. It can make you seem reckless, when you're anything but."
- Primarch Victus on his leadership experience.
This man gets it. First person in the series, aside from maybe Hackett, who gets it.
Victus does not see himself fit to be a diplomat because in politics, public opinion drives policy. He knows from experience that sometimes the best decisions are not always the popular ones, and sometimes they are ones that people will judge you for very harshly. I much prefer his character to our defacto mentor, Anderson... who is merely a cheerleader for Shepard. Victus actually demonstrates how good people with important responbilities (like him, like Shep) are challenged with adversity.

Godspeed, you magnificent bastard.
