I'm having a problem with none of the purchased DLC showing up (everything in the downloadable content section is blank). I have worked out that this is a problem with the Dragon Age: Origins Updater service which simply will not start. Every time I try to get it to work it times out and gives me a 1053 error.

Please help.

Though... it appears I might be successful. If I manually start the service through using services.msc in "Run..." it seems it is downloading? Maybe?

Edit: Yes, it is downloading, I'm glad I could solve it. For Bioware: it appears that the service does indeed not start up correctly on some systems. I'm using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, if that makes any difference.

Slightly different problem with it, redeemed codes and downloaded, but not listing as installed. Also, the 7 dollar content pack isn't showing up in available dlc.

I'm playing on the Xbox360 I have the same problem I had downloaded the Memory Band and Band of fire yesterday whatever free content I got that from.....now this is the message I receive

Unable to load save game as the required downloadable content is not present on the selected storage device. Please insert a storage device containing the required downloadable content, or download the content again. Memory Band Band of Fire

well I'm several hours into the game and cant play kind ticked off. Because I don't see that as an option to download again.

EDIT: Well apparently this has some thing to do with the fact my xbox cannot connect to xbox live at the moment....... so thats really messed up that i need to be connected to EA server to play this game with added content???

EDIT 2 : It worked  now that I was connected to EA server, but what was that all about??? I do not like that I need to be online to play a single player game since I used dlc........

Ouch, I think I'll cancel my preorder, if its problems like this, and having to be online to play it when you've downloaded some extra content. Still have a couple days left until its released here.

I've reinstalled the game and it's not on the same drive as MyDocs.
I've reinstalled the service twice and did it as admin (still Im only running WinXP).
I've disabled AntiVirus and firewalls.

Puh...Im gettin' fed up with this...Image IPB

Edit1: It IS on the same drive as MyDocs.

Thank you so much for this solution Wardka, you're my saviour!
Finally works for me, too.
I have the exact same operating system. Seems like they just to forgot about some routines here.
Shame on Bioware/EA that they didn't fix this with Patch 1.01, though - it's really annoying when you pay for the CE and get a naked DLC window after registering all your codes.

Here's a simple tutorial on how I fixed a broken DLC package that was supposedly installed but not really working (conversations broken, quest markers not appearing, etc.) Worked for me, see if it helps.
