I don't know, maybe they're just putting too much "hollywood" in it

It sucks if you prefer gamey games probably.

This seems like a thread that could be productive if it really wanted to be.

It looked better a couple of years back, honestly.

My opinion of it is about the same as before - It's not going to necessarily hit people the same way Heavy Rain did, but it's still going to be a great game nonetheless. The main point that deviates it from previous games is the co-operative nature of the 2 main characters. But yes, the storyline seems a bit more like Indigo Prophecy with a heavier dose of Choice & Consequence and action-y bits.

Will it suck? If you weren't a fan of the first, the answer is likely yes. Hard to tell if it's worth $60 to fans quite yet, but it still looks somewhere between an 8 and 9 in quality.

Well it certainly looks like an entertaining movie.

No more than most classically-styled adventure games.

I like to play Heavy Rain, but not take it seriously. I wonder if this will be like that.

So what are the chances of this being a pretentious train wreck?

What an incredibly insightful topic, OP. You really explained your point of view clearly and backed it up well, while bringing up lots of good points for discussion.

Really? Everything i have seen of it looks good they even fixed a lot of the problems i had with heavy rain. I just hope that the start is not as slow as heavy rain's was.

I'm sure I'll try this out whenever I get a PS3. I played Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain. Might as well go for that Quantic Dream 3 peat.

The OP gave no reason why the game whould suck other than it looks "hollywood" they mentioned nothing else about the gameplay or story.

Let me say it like this - If you liked Quantic Dreams previous games, which were pretty much quick-time event spectacles with a pretty solid plot -- Then I think you might like this one. Personally I'm interested simply because it's Ellen Page & Willem Dafoe, and I also kinda like Heavy Rain even if it didn't have much replay value -- I do prefer games with a bit more player agency. Games that balances gameplay & story perfectly, but a good story can for some games be enough for me. My tastes are varied though, and I can have fun with almost any type of genre as long as there's something that entertains me about it. The interesting thing though is that the old-school adventure genre pretty much played the same - Games that have been praised for their solid plots, characters, setting, humor etc like Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Sam & Max. I don't particularly remember Monkey Island being praised for its solid gameplay, but maybe that's just me. Even today you've got the WD 'walking' away with awards and piles of critical acclaim from critics. So, the question remains -  Are games like the Walking Dead any more a game than Beyond: Two Souls?
