You mean like what BioWare has been doing since Jade Empire? Don't see how it can ruin the game, but I suppose I can see how people might get worried that it'll be streamlined/commercialized or whatever. L.A. Noire was drowning in Hollywood celebrities, particularly a few actors from Mad Men, but that didn't really hold the game back. I think it was more the working conditions of the development, the decision to make it sandbox, and ambigious interrogation system. Beyond doesn't look that different from Cage's previous games, and you always have the option of not buying it. It's not like he's the status quo for what games will become. I admit, Cage's idea of what games should strive to become doesn't sit right with me - The decision to switch out beloved Solid Snake voice actor, David Hayer, in exchange for Kiefer Sutherland in MGS V didn't sit right with me either - But a lot of things don't impress me about MGS V, especially since I find to be anything but stealth. But there it is.VampireSoap wrote...

It sucks if you prefer gamey games probably.
I agree with this. Initially I refused to buy Heavy Rain because I hate quick time events and HR was nothing but qte's, in time however however I caved to all the hype and impressive reviews and bought it. I loved the concept, I loved the story but there just wasn't enough gameplay to keep me playing. I would have saved myself a lot of time and money if I just youtubed everything instead of paing full price for it and playing it.
I am interested in Beyond Two Souls, I love Ellen Paige and William Dafoe is one of the most under rated actors out there, I think BTS will be just as good as HR, I just don't think it is the game for me, I don't think I'll get anything out of playing I buying it and playing it. €60 is too much money for a semi interactive movie.

No, I just hate it when people make threads with clearly no effort put into them. I even got a ban once for calling out a similarly pointless positive thread in the ME3 section.Enigmatick wrote...

What an incredibly insightful topic, OP. You really explained your point of view clearly and backed it up well, while bringing up lots of good points for discussion.

I'll make a thread about ME4 saying the exact same thing.

If by "you people", you mean, people able to formulate thoughts into meaningful discussion, then yeah, I guess that would be "special". Especially on the internet.VampireSoap wrote...

The OP gave no reason why the game whould suck other than it looks "hollywood" they mentioned nothing else about the gameplay or story.

I saw a commercial for this a couple of nights ago, and honestly...it didn't interest me much. It looks dated, and the story seems cliché.

I don't know about the train wreck part, but it's guaranteed to be pretentious as hell.
Such is the nature of Quantic Dream "games."

That's right, everything that comes out of your mouths are meaningful and insightful. I see that now. I'm sorry that the rest of us are just not intelligent enough to recognize your genius level of intellect earlier. Forgive us ordinary people for having ordinary conversations in an ordinary off-topic section of an ordinary social network, and I think being here really wastes your precious time, you should go develop a cure for cancer or something instead of educating us unintelligent peasants.J. She was absolutely right when she commented it may cause confusion between the two titles.
I know this because when the Beyond commercial ran last night while we were watching TV the wife said "Oh isn't that the game you were playing a few weeks ago?"

You're in luck then. Just saw an article where the developer said the game is only 10 hours long.
Which for me is too short to make worth getting a PS4 for. Maybe getting a year after I get a PS4 and find it cheap.

As far as I'm concerned, there's room for multiple kinds of games - including ones that are short, medium, or long, ones that have simple control schemes or more complex ones. How many people have praised The Walking Dead game? Yet it has simple controls and fairly kludgy, awkward movement. Its value was in its narrative, its characters, and the decisions you made - not how awesomely complex and lengthy it was.
Using books as an analogy too, I can finish a reasonably substantial book in a few hours because I'm a pretty fast reader, but the value is in whether or not I have had a thought-provoking and/or emotionally resonant experience. Cormac McCarthy's The Road was short, yet it packed quite a punch for its length and has stuck with me - probably more so than all the books of ASoIaF (despite George R.R. Martin's gazillion pages of text).

I was under the impression BTS was a PS3 exclusive although I wouldn't be to surprised if it got a PS3 port. It would probably sell better on the PS4 where gamers are hungrier for AAA exclusive titles to set their console apart from the competition in order to justify the going out and buying a new machine.

And you'd probably be right. Games are notorious at the end of a console generation cycle for being difficult to sell. Super Metroid sold very poorly in Japan for a few reasons, the above being one of them. It's a bit too late now, though. It might see a PS4 port, but not likely.I was under the impression BTS was a PS3 exclusive although I wouldn't be to surprised if it got a PS3 port. Well, it's an impression. The OP is notably weak, but that doesn't mean the thread has to sink or the discussion can't stick around. How nice that you can so quickly judge a game when you haven't even played it.
As Chris pointed out above, you can still pull off celebrity cameos/main roles without it looking like it's just selling a face.

I stand corrected. You're right about PS3. I could have sworn the commercial we saw last night had a 'next-generation scenes shown' disclaimer on it.
