They're necessary in a Dragon Age game that is going to get money from me.

Without the ability to roleplay a gay hero and engage in same-sex relationships, there is nothing that makes Dragon Age stand out to me. If I wanted cliche fantasy stories in cliche fantasy worlds, there are a million other products offering exactly that.

I think there are dating sims that would be much more suitable for your priorities.

First of all; even if I was interested in dating sims, virtually none of them have a "gay option", and in the few that do, the "gay option" has much less content and is basically treated as a joke.

Secondly; I am not interested in gay romance stories, or any romance stories period. Nor am I interested in unoriginal fantay schlock.

It is the combination of the two that piques my curiosity. I don't just want to be gay. I don't just want to kill dragons. I want to be gay and kill dragons at the same time.

There is a company called Winterwolves that offers a few RPGs that include homosexual romance options as fully developed options alongside heterosexual ones. Essentially, they are BioWare JRPGs. If anything, they're better because they don't abide by the pan/player-sexual BS BioWare does. You may want to check it out.

Schumacher and Ninja Stan have shot down the "romances use too much resources " claim by those who hate romances , in the past.
I believe them and consider such claims invalid.

True story.

I know this might come of a shock to you but you're going to be able to do that in the game! OMG! You can even avoid any and all romances! WOW!

Also the fact that you care about what other people care about in a game they're playing is a bit sad. You feel the need to justify your way of playing by forcing it on everyone else? If people buy and play the game to ****** to Morrigan I don't feel the need to care long as they stay in their threads and leave me alone I'm happy. Do you as I like to say.

I rather think that paid romance DLC would lead to enraged torch-wielding mobs... or, perhaps more likely, a few people buying it and far more people getting pirated versions. Either way, it's bad form to either cancel a distinctive service or start forcing extra money to be paid for it; both will lead to major backlash from too many people for this to be a good idea. And since romance content doesn't take too many resources to make anyway, there's really no loss.

I enjoy romances, others do as well, and the ones who don't enjoy it can simply skip it at no loss to themselves. No harm done.

And I will be leading that mob.

An extra $5-10 isn't torch and pitchfork worthy.

To you maybe.

This, basically. Imagine the sheer joy I had when I found out that DA gave me the option of making a gay character (not just a character who rejects the available women), and then gave me the option to experience a deeper relationship via romance content with one of my favorite characters in the game. My Warden refused Morrigan and made Alistair sleep with her instead, because he did not like women, full stop. Almost no game out there, whatsoever, gives me that option. And my character didn't need to be compromised by having a one night stand with a woman in order to not die. (Feel kinda bad making Alistair do it. But only kinda :innocent:)

Taking that away, after the option has already been established in DAO, and then expanded on in DA2 would make me reconsider my purchases with BW in the future.

Thankfully, the DA side of BW has shown themselves not to be bigots, so I am very confident that I will get the representation I wish to have with the DA series.

Indeed. I tend to appreciate games for their core features and not for their wish fulfilling side content. That immediately places me above a large chunk of the user base here in BSN.

To you either. You're being rather dramatic and inflammatory about optional content.

How about they remove the BSN and everyone in it? Clears everyone's headache from seeing the thing getting posted over and over. I should take a brake from BSN and do yoga.

Good then you can keep doing that and leave those of us "below" you the heck alone. The constant remarks about it makes it seem as though it does bother you and you're not above the chunk as you claim.

Romance DLC would be an entertaining proposition. In either case, romance in games doesn't bother me so much as how BioWare approaches romance and how people latch onto the concept like it's life or death.

You don't see a lot of people going on about how Bond Girls/Guys is the singular thing that attracts them to James Bond movies, or that they'll riot if Bond Girls/Guys are removed, or other such sentiments like calling each other bigots if you don't like Bond Girls/Guys. Yet that's what we have here in video games and BioWare games in particular.

Winterwolves game have so so writing.

And most gay bl games are made with women in mind. (and are filled with rape and other crap). So I can kind of see Plantiffs point. Kind off.

That's great. I'm sure the dragon you're trying to kill will be very interested in your sexuality. You can headcanon whatever you want about your PC but that doesn't mean Bioware needs to add options for you or anybody.

Xilizhra wrote...
Perhaps this shocks you, but some people actually value emotional development.

Funny that you'd be the one to speak about emotional development. Regardless, romances should be very low on Bioware's list of priorities.

They could sell them in packs, like "femme fatale fantasy" or "freaky non-human fun".

Would be interesting to say the least.

Obviously a superior gaming specimen like my good self needs to impart wisdom and judgment to the small folk. Hence my presence here: I have come to educate the ignorant masses on how to properly appreciate a video game.

Killing dragons whilst being gay. Sounds like the premise of an exploitation film.

Regardless of the specific nature of a given service, nobody LIKES being made to pay for something that was previously free.

All the complaints against Bioware's DLC practices are born of the (in my opinion, false) presumption that the content would've been in the base game if Bioware wasn't staffed entirely by greedy, selfish, money-grubbing lowlifes or whatever.
