Why do people care about how others play their game?

I don't understand how this is automatically a terrible thing. You've never played a Bioware game without romance. How do you know for sure you will not like it?

Why don't you just continue to not do so and stop worrying about other peoples' preferences?

I don't care about people's preferences. I care about the quality of the game, and when the writer's have to spend extra time deciding on the exact perfect way to execute one hour of content, then the other 39 hours will have less focus on them. Even if it's just that little bit.

I think that romances add so much more headcanons, fan fics, fan art, and all that stuff due to love for characters. Meaning, people spend a lot more time than just an hour based on those romances. It doesn't even have to be perfect, just something meaningful and that doesn't ****** off people for being half-done.

Just based off of the romance threads I've seen on this page so far, people want Bioware to take the romances deeper than they have before. That requires planning, man.

Guys, you 're essentially turning BioWare into digital pimps.

And you can pay them to BE a digital pimp! See how that works?

You could probably do at least five romance DLC packs. #5 being the one with all of the kinky stuff.

1. bad boys 'n' girls

2. sweet things

3. clingers

4. forbidden love

5. freaky non-human fun

Would probably sell like hotcakes, especially if it was Day-1.

If the tiny amount of resources used on this bugs you that much, other companies exist. Hell, I basically only used half of Shepard's content throughout all of ME because I don't take Renegade options, but I'm not complaining to Bioware for putting it in.

Now who's undermining people's preferences?

What you're saying, essentially, is "this tiny part of the game I do not do is giving me more annoyance than removing romance would give anyone else." At least I hope so, otherwise you're willing to inconvenience others more than you're being inconvenienced now, which just seems unpleasant. And if you do think it's worse for you... well, why? Do you agonize over every other sidequest that you don't do and wonder how much it took away from the main story? Should all sidequests ever be abolished?

Regardless of the specific nature of a given service, nobody LIKES being made to pay for something that was previously free.

All the complaints against Bioware's DLC practices are born of the (in my opinion, false) presumption that the content would've been in the base game if Bioware wasn't staffed entirely by greedy, selfish, money-grubbing lowlifes or whatever.

While the initial proposition may not seem too great, one must think of the end result. Since you apparently value the romances, what is the harm in directly producing them directly and not as a half baked side project? Think BIG, rather than pigeon-holing your wishes into whatever's already been established.

And the previous complaints about Bioware's DLC's practices are largely irrelevant, as DA:I is a new game and can possibly entail a different sort of practices.

I have no personal qualms about paying extra for romance content.

But if they were to do that, they would need to do something else to make the base game appeal to me, because I can't buy romance DLC for a game I don't own.

Again, you speak as if BW should care whether you buy it or not. $90, man!

They're already headed that route, aren't they?

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Bring on the microtransactions.

What about the classics?

1. Virginal girl next door.
2. Crazy off the wall, let's have it on right here.

I mean, these are BioWare-approved after all.

Better to have the option of romancing rather than take it away from the player. Dragon Age is all about choices, is it not? If people choose to concentrate more on them rather than the rest of the game, that's their business. Bioware gets the money either way and we continue to get the stories we love to play.

Didn't EA say something about wanting to charge people for reloads?

Congratulations on disingenuousness. I happen to think the romances work well enough as they are without needing extra money, especially if you're interested in more than one person.

I'll ignore your allegations and try to expound my point.

First off, nothing said a romance DLC had to be character-specific. Nothing.

Next, you're being horribly "content," almost to the point of complacency. Contentment is the enemy of excellence. If you really do enjoy the romances, what is the harm in providing rigorous financial justification for their existance? Why turn away additional potential for something that you value greatly for the sake of.. well nothing. Are you afraid extra time, effort, and energy input would destroy the romances for you?

Tbh, I've just seen people asking for more equal numbers in options, which I support, being who I am. Deeper though... Hm, didn't know that. I'm just happy with the characterization some peeps like Zevran get from it. I liked DA:O's romances.

You're pretty much saying that there is only one way that a Bioware game could work, and I should walk if I don't like it. I don't think taking away romances would inconvienience people that much. They can still develop relationships with all of the characters. They can still create fanfics. They can still discuss their favorite characters with like-minded people. There just won't be a sex scene, g.
