I like fantastical weapons and armor, I don't like HUGE weapons and armor that make my character look like they're going to fall over.

Fantasy armor/weapons does not necessarily equal huge and spiky. Smaller less insane armor/weapons does not necessarily equal boring and/or realistic armor (not that realistic armor has to be boring).

QFT!

From what I've seen, it doesn't look to be too much of a problem anyway... in a video, the woman's pauldrons are reasonably sized, and the two-handed sword is about the right size for a two-hander (yeah...you can see why they didn't last very long, can't you? ;-) ).

It's not the right size for a 2h, it may just fit into the size brackert of ceremonial and judicial blades, but they where not battlefield weapons, being for (the clue being in the names) ceremonies and trials.

If fantasy is the issue, then there is no need for armor, just going into battle naked...well, ancient people do that...drinking a lot then charged into battle, ask the Scott people....

Why need armor in the world where people can be protected by magic?

Just carry a rune, the rune protect the body by aura of armor....

IF that was explained, then a clan that did that would be fine.

The scott's people were pretty much getting high on primitive PCP, and much like a person on PCP, needed to get out of their clothes do to how hot PCP makes you feel, and went into violent rampages with dulled pain senses and probably tripping hard.

added bonus: wounds made on bare skin are less likely to get infected than ones made while wearing manky hide and skins.

Of course how much 'going into battle naked' actually happened (beyond the greeks no trousers antics) is open to question.

I'm not so sure about that.  Maybe the armor values should be lower, but any gear that magically makes you stronger, faster, etc obviously does so through magic.  So even bikini armor could have the same stats.

Nope.

On one side you have armor +magic (and more metal to infuse with magic to boot).

On the other just magic.

Shardplate from the Stormlight Archive being a prime example.

Equipment doesn't have to be 100% realistic and grounded; this is, after all, a fantasy setting, with dragons and elves and magic and clothed sex.

That being said, it doesn't mean anything goes. People going into melee combat should wear things that at least look like armor, or suffer severe penalties otherwise. Isabella's outfit looked stupid to me for that reason, wearing something like that in the flurry of a brawl is madness no matter how many backflips you can do. But the leather armors in DAO were OK.

A game that did it well is Skyrim; Heavy armor makes you look like a tank and absorbs lots of damage, light armor protects some and allows you to move around, clothes don't restrict anything but you better have a mage spell on top of them if you don't want to be skewered by the first bandit you cross. More importantly, equipment doesn't become chainmail bikinis on women (I hate that so much). Females are just as protected as males, with obviousy some concessions to body differences. The game also had realistic looking armor (Iron, steel plate, leather) as well as some more outlandish equipment, fully justified by the setting. That's what Inquisition should aim for; believability and variety.

As for weapons, that's more complicated. Video games have a way of making them really oversized. Even Dragon Age is guilty of this to a degree. I'd like swords like Anduril in Lord of the Rings, but usually you get blades with a flat so wide it looks like it's used to make bread instead of stabbing people. Skyrim is very guilty of this too.

Forsworn,Falmer and Saviour's Hide armor would like to have a word with you:P also both types of armor are capable through Smithing and Enchanting of reaching the Armor Cap.

Yeah well they were also skimpy on men. What I don't like is men wearing 100 pounds of steel and women looking like prostitutes on a battlefield.

As for reaching the armor cap, I know, but that was mostly through exploit and the inherent brokenness of a game like Skyrim. In design, light armor was less protectice, the kind of things rogues in Dragon Age wear, is all.

Hmm I actually agree with that it annoys me when a heavy plate armor  inexplicably becomes a bra, thong and thigh highs when put on a female.

In general I'd agree however I do think Elven and Dragonscale armors should offer more protection then Steel for example.

Except for the "stab here" scooped neck when putting it on female characters.

Kinda hilarious how Zevran was protected right up to the neck while Leliana has to flash a little skin.

Outside of Studded Leather all Leather armor left the arms and legs unprotected..

Well duh obviously wearing skimpy outfits that makes them dirty, sinful skanky ****s by default! If they had any decency they'd not show a single speck of skin, and be wrapped up like an egyption with only a narrow eye slit for them to peep through!

Rogue armor was never about ac and more about defence. The whole idea of a rogue is to not stand in the way of the pointy sharp sword.

If you really need me to spell it out for you, giantdeathrobots way of thinking has some rather... nasty implications, if you think about it. But that's a whole other discussion for another topic. Suffice to say, women don't like to be judged based on how much skin they decide to show

The kind of attitude I respnded to is something that I feel needs to change, so I speak up about it when I can. I hope that my sarcasm came through clearly enough?

Still Rogue Armor in DA is stupid from a realistic standpoint and in order for Rogues to avoid sword strikes in DA they have to have inhuman reflexes.*blocking arrows with daggers*

It's something that  Ifeel has to end as soon as possible, so I speak up about it when I can.

Women don't like being judged about anything, or rather, It is socially unacceptable to judge Women as a Man or youll be considered a bitter misogynist. So, I hope it's not offending anyone by saying I like Women in little to no amour In my game and I hope there a armour designs that accommodate what I like.

If you look at history armor died out long before the use of melee weapons did. When it came down to it a faster fighter with a smaller more nimble sword would beat someone wearing 20lbs of armor and carrying a two handed sword 90 times out of 100.

When the technology came around to make strong thin blades armor became a thing of the past.

Realistically, people only wore light armors just because it weighs the least. Marching long distances to attack an enemy kingdom is tiring enough and slow enough wearing nothing at all. Heavy armor is helpful, but it's a package deal and an exhausted, hungry and tired soldier is worthless.

[/quote]His post  simply said he doesn't like it when full plate magically becomes lingerie on females so yes you are overreacting, being a dick and picking a fight for no reason.

And FYI most women don't like being objectified and seen sorely as sex objects ethier.
