I'm probably only person who still loves the franchise but just needed to vent :)

I love F13th and am huge fan of the found footage format in horror movies but I kind of think never the twain should meet. I liked original idea of setting it during winter where snow is covering everything, it set up some interesting story possibilities and visuals. It also reminds me of what made my favourite new slasher series Cold Prey different to the others.

The found footage gimmick would and has worked for a slasher type movie - Atrocious - but minus any real mystery F13 just wouldn't work. Jason isn't the xenomorph from Alien who works better from the shadows and is rarely seen, he is pretty much shown throughout. I like it this way as the mask and watching him bound after victims like a unstoppable killing machine is what works. Also since they can't bring back the best version - sackhead Jason in 2 - they should go with the part 7 interpretation which still stands up. It's the version i have displayed beside my Ada Wong, Alien Queen and Freddy on shelf.

I think maybe I'm just very weird in that while I love art house cinema give me a F13th movie and I can talk for days. So thank you for allowing me to vent my outrage

Kinda like Quarantine and Cloverfield?

I usually do not watch horror movies because they are boring and have crap stories...but I do like stuff like the movies I mentioned above. I don't know, maybe because it's like a first-person game or something.

I want exactly this, not seen from the camera, but from the eyes point of view. It would be so awesome to be in the protagonists eye and play from their point of view. B)

I like found footage films but i wouldn't like Friday the 13th movies to use it.
Also to anyone who watched Quarantine i strongly recommend too watch original spanish version called REC, it's way more scary and horrifying.
As soon as i heard Dexter's sister screaming i shut the movie off.

I'm watching the new four hour F13th documentary at moment and am even more sure now it's bad idea. The POV shots the series is famous for, not to mention the music would have to get dumped to go found footage.

I do love found footage movies though, as others have said Rec is excellent and the sequel is good. If you can find it Noroi:the curse is truly scary. Would recommend Atrocious, Cannibal Holocaust, Ghost watch, Strawberry Estates, Poughkeepsie tapes and the Tunnel which is free to download. Would warn against the terrible VHS series of movies as they are neither scary nor any good.

Agree but VHS movies aren't that bad. Some footage was good like the zombie with the POV and when they were chased by error tracking ghost in the first movie.
What got me interested in found footage movies was probably Paranormal Activity, it sucks that series started to suck so much after the 2nd movie even though i like 3rd one as well.

I loved the PA movies, the first one scared bejesus out of me - though it was workprint with alternate ending. Also Blair Witch that I got bootleg on video the week it came out in US, I think it was the original cut that toured US colleges and freaked both me and a college mate out so badly

I didn't mention them because there probably most well known. I can get why some people may like some of the shorts in VHS but as as whole they just don't work for me. The POV zombie short was the best part though, it worked better than everything else in the series. It does feel like the great found footage shorts on the Strawberry estates DVD though, done less well for most part. SE has some issues but the plot is actually great and needs remade properly, the DVD has as ton of extras.

I'm also oddly happy that Cannibal Holocaust gets some love on the BSN, next stop Guinea Pig movies. Actually please don't Mermaid in a Manhole there's just no words to describe...

And that 4hr F13th documentary I was watching, the 4hr not running time but how long left. I ended up watching the 7hr long thing till 3am. Amy Steel still looks great :)
