New to this modding thing ...
I'm trying to use this mod http://nwvault.ign.c...r.Detail&id=217 but apparently the basicitems.2da and appearance.2da files already exist in my override folder via some other mods (Plot Fixes and Kaedrin).
As far as I can tell this means I have to merge them. I looked up this program http://nwvault.ign.c...ls.Detail&id=75 but I'm reasonably sure it'll screw something up.
Is there a basic tutorial somewhere for doing this? Also, is this the easiest way to resolve 2da conflicts?
Want to merge a couple of mods

You can always see what's been changed by comparing your 2das to the game's base 2da files by opening them in your NWN2 install directory's "data" folder. Often content mods like Kaedrin's simply add stuff to the bottom of the 2da (at least mostly), so it's usually easy to see what's been done to them. Then you just copy and paste that stuff onto the 2da you wanna merge it with. Just make sure you keep row numbers intact as that's of vital importance in most 2das. Of course it's impossible to be completely sure your merge will work flawlessly without spending 12 hours comparing every single thing.
I don't know what mod your custom appearance.2da is from, but the same thing probably applies there too. You'll most likely find something added near the end, which you just need to copy paste. Telling us what mod it's from would help make sure.
As for baseitems.2da, based on my quick peek at it, you should be fine if you just copy paste everything in Kaedrin's version after row 146 to the distance tweak mod's version. I'm reasonably confident nothing major will get broken in kaedrin's with these merges.

Thanks for the reply.
I used WinMerge to compare the files and it seems that the Distance Tweaks mod alters two or three variables on each line with no actual new lines added, and they don't seem to be much in conflict with either Plot Fixes or Kaedrin as far as I can see.
Manually merging via copy/pasting each variable would take too long though, so I guess I'll try to use WinMerge and hope it doesn't break things for me.

How about copy pasting the added lines from kaedrin's/plot fixes/whatever to the 2das in the distance tweaks mod? That way you don't have to tweak the numbers all over the place. That is unless the merger program works (never tried it).
